Solid Surface COunter Crack

We bought a house that came with new solid-surface counters. We noticed a long crack about a millimeter wide running over where the dishwasher is. We pulled the dishwasher out and there was no damage under the counter (I was wondering if the heat from the dishwasher caused the crack). I'm not sure how much this damage will cost. Does the entire counter have to be replaced? Can the crack be repaired? Should I submit a homeowner's claim? I'm so pissed.

Probably not a big deal.

Did the previous owner leave any info on the installation? Corian for example has a ten year warranty that might cover that. The repairs on that stuff is pretty cool. They cut out the crack and are able to meld in a new piece.

Possibly a VERY BIG DEAL depending on the product you have.
IF it is a sold surfacing product that is repairable (Corian, Gibraltar, etc.) then it most likely has a warranty.
HOWEVER, most cracks that are around a heat source are a result of heat reflective tape not being installed as per manufacturers specifications.
THIS IS AN INSTALLATION PROBLEM and most likely WON'T be coverd by a PRODUCT warranty. In most cases you'd need to have this repaired by the person/company that installed the product.
