Maybe you are talking about something different, but why not just go to lowes and buy a roll of the screen you like and the aluminum frames and make them yourself? it is cheap and easy, just take the time to measure correctly. We redid all the screens in my home for very little money and an afternoon of work in front of the TV.
I have the 90% solar screens, but I had them installed. I asked because there's a DIY available online (and maybe Home Depot, but I can't remember). My neighbor did the DIY. He said they were a bit of a pain in the *** to build.
If you're in the Austin area, I can recommend a guy who can do them. I have to warn you, though, that there's currently a pretty long waiting list for him. Or I can ask my neighbor to find out where he ultimately got his kit.
They just did my house with 90% and did a fantastic job. They will come out and provide a free estimate. I searched around on google and compared prices. They were very reasonable and I was happy with results. PM if you have any further questions.
For those who have solar screens, do you notice a difference in room temperature? Our living room and bedroom windows face west and during the summer days you can really feel a difference in those 2 rooms. Would putting solar screens make a difference? The living room windows are pretty large and this early heat keeps reminding us to do something. Also, do they install them on doors? Our back door is all windows also. Just wondering.
we have 3 skylights that are about 35" by 30" that we made 90percent solar screens for about 3 months ago. It is now not a baking experience to walk through that not nearly as sunny room.
I've noticed a huge difference. Even with blinds down and curtains drawn there were heat issues before the solar screens. Not so much anymore. And our energy bill has dropped about 1/3 compared to the same time last year (but we've also done other things like change what type of light bulbs we're using and seal all electrical outlets with "climate" plugs).
