So where will the Horns end up in the Big 12?

At the start of the season, with Cokie out, Tiffany hurt and Kristen deciding not return and with six newbies on the squad, I thought the team would be doing good to go 7-9. I was hoping for 8-8 as I figured that would allow the team to get an NCAA invite.

After watching them play Stanford, Michigan State, and Tenn, I think that 9-7 is realistic and that 11-5 is within reach.

We got four very good 3pt shooters in Kat, Chassidy, Yvonne and Ashleigh. We got the second best shot blocker in the league who also has become an outstanding rebounder. She is also one of the top 3 post players in the league, imo. The bench is six deep and talented. The thin post position has been strengthened by the return of Kristen.

Except for losing to both Tenn and Michigan State (I thought the team would win one of them), the team has met the expectations I had for OOC games. And the team is playing extremely cohesively on both ends. They are running but under control and not wildly. They are playing well together. They are fearless. Now, if they can just make 8 of 10 FTs as a team, they would be very solid.

So, my prediction is an 11-5 record in Big 12 play.

I think they'll be around 9 and 7.

Out of the 6 games w/ OU, TAMU and Baylor I think they will win 2 of the 6.

The remaining 10 games they'll win at least 70% = 7.

I do however think they will upset OU, TAMU or Baylor in the Big 12 tourny - qtr finals or semi finals. That will be 3 games w/ a familiar foe and I think TX will win. Coach is an X and O coach and I think she will have them prepared to pull off the upset.

I see us at 10-6. I think the lack of post scoring will hurt alittle bit. I see the best teams as beeing 1 Baylor, 2 Texas am, 3 Oklahoma, 4 Iowa st , 5 Texas. Then the rest. Had we had Cokie , I would put us at #3.

I really think that people will be surprised by our posts. What I have read on other boards seems to indicate that they are not paying attention to what has happened this year. The posts are providing 18.7 ppg and 16.6 rpg. That does not include Kat. If they can continue to do anywhere near that average in Big 12 play, our post presence will be solid. Especially when one considers that the Horns are a perimeter oriented team as evidented (sp?) by our four perimeter players all averaging in double figures.

10-6 and 11-5 are pipe dreams. This team will barely finish 7-9. Hopefully next year we will finally turn the corner.

i agree probably 6-10 or worse - the conference is loaded and we are not one of the top teams - we just found a way to lose to one of the worst teams in the big 12 - did anyone notice their scores from their previous games, they were stomped - we have some serious problems with coach g - her coaching history is fine, but she is not getting it done here in any capacity - why doesn't she recruit more players so 1 injury doesn't deplete our depth - this is her 4th not first or second season, things should be much better - she would be well served to sell UT and put her duke accomplishments on the back burner - i know the former players are tired of hearing about her duke success - she needs to sell the former success of the texas program and former players - she has made some eye raising decisions like taking down pictures of former players, getting rid of the fastbreak club, ending the meet and greet aspect that had been common between players and fans, alumini and basically shutting out the public in all aspects - what is left of the fanbase is dwindling fast - i hope she can get it done and she is going to get at least one more year, but she needs to be told that a top 20 finish or better next season is expected or move along

Near the bottom. We just collapsed against one of the league's worst teams. Spin however you want but wins will be hard to find for this team in conference play.

7-9 is rather optimistic. 5-11 seems more accurate given the inconsistent play against teams with a pulse.

We stand a good chance of missing the NCAA tourney. Is this a scenario that should even be possible from a $1,000,000/year coach after 4 years under her tutelage?
