I know he is not a Texas signee but he is a Texas kid who was promised a diamond made from coal. Just wondering if the kid will see the field this year in an athlete role. I didn't see any stats on him so I wonder if he is red shirting or if he will see action.
I live in Cajun land now, so I endure the wonderful sports journalism here. Lots of pre-season stories about Shepard. I don't think he got in the game... he's not in the box score.
But word out of Baton Rouge is that they're having him practice at 3 positions -- QB, WR, RB. All of it seems like Lester's ploy to keep the QB dream alive. I have no idea if he can be a good QB or not, but he will see the field this year with the ball in his hands. He's pretty swift.
With Jefferson having 2 mores of eligibility after this year... and if keeps doing a great job... that only leaves Shepard with 1 year at QB. Kind of like the situation Chiles fell into with Colt. The kid has skills... it would be a shame to waste them on the pine.
What happened to him? Miles' lips were moving when he promised Shepherd he'd be a quarterback...you know what happens when Miles' lips move. Mack wouldn't make that promise. I doubt Shepherd plays quarterback in Baton Rouge, unless LSU goes to the wildcat offense.
I think the reason he didn't get in the game is because LSU was having the tar whipped out of them by Washington and you don't want to put a true freshman in when you're getting whaled on.
he may be a man among boys in baton rouge, but, for his sake, i hope he has good hands. those folks aren't nice to a five-star that doesn't impress, and they have their qb.
