with the Westerman decommit. Oh well...no bid deal. Florida State is the new #1. Signing day is right around the corner. Hopefully we don't get jumped again.

Westerman picks Auburn

Updated class rankings

Rivals has updated as well ranking us at at #2 with Bama being #1. With the roll Auburn is on, i can see a recruit that was torn switching from Bama to Auburn which would likely drop Bama back to 2. Not that it matters, this class is still pretty damn sick!!!

Give us 1 or 2 more good ones and screw the silly rankings. 1-10 are a full of solid players and only maybe 10-15 per class will end up contributing anyway. You never know which players in the class will catch on, all you can hope for is that every 'ship is given to a kid that has the talent to make it big. Westerman was one that did, but I'm betting he'll be replaced by another. In a year or 2 I'll have to struggle to remember his name while the name of the one that comes will carved in my memory.

Winning recruiting battles is good and it does matter. Hate to sound like John Madden but you win because you have better players than the other team you line up against.

But, you have to be able to get the most out of their talent. They don't give out trophys for recruiting championships. As long as we're in the top 5, that works for me.

Does not matter one bit!!!!! Both TCU AND BOISE STATE would have beaten Texas top 3 recruiting classes last year. We need players who want to play for the University of Texas like Colt McCoy. He was a nobody in the recruiting trail and he did great things for Texas with hard work and dedication to the burnt orange.

If people are iffy about Texas, let them go! They will regret it later.

"I am excited and blessed to move forward with my commitment to this great program and the Auburn family," Westerman said. "In the end I am following my faith, my heart and my family."

He left out and the money at the end of that statement.

I can understand that you may want to reconsider things after Texas loses their OL coach. However what I don't understand is wouldn't a kid be very excited to be a longhorn considering that he committed so early and wouldn't he thus want to at least make his official visit ot UT and talk to the new OL coach before making his decision?

Given the awful season and coaching turnover we've had, I'm amazed that only one recruit has been lost. It could have been much worse.

As long as Texas finishes in the Top 10 in recruiting they are will be OK. Other schools could pass Texas because they are not through signing. I think Texas signed a very good class this year. Another Shipley coming in.
