Guys, there is a good chance that nothing will happen to them, and we may have to usher in an era of semi-pro college football:

Lake met with the NCAA like 3 months ago, and they havent done jack.

Its an open and shut case against Reggie Bush. He was clearly receiving improper benefits and there's an undeniable paper trail that proves it. I dont understand why the NCAA hasnt declared him ineligible.

As for USC, there is zero evidence implicating them and I expect them to go unscathed. But Reggie Bush is a totally different story.

Why are y'all acting so surprised???

Unless they get cuaght red-handed (Audio, video, documentation, someone inside giving them up), certain schools will NEVER get more than a half-hearted slap on the wrist.

USC, ou, FSU (aka "Free Shoes U"), Miami, Alabama, and Ohio St and a few other schools have all had all sorts of thing happen recently that once upon a time would have cost them TV time, post season games, and other penalties.

ou got what? a loss of two whole scholarships (whoopty f'n do)? Alabama got hit, but they weren't going anywhere anyway at the time (how convenient, a school on the down slide gets whacked...).

I agree it is getting rediculous!!!!

It doesn't make me regret that Mack has conducted this program within the rules, but it sure does punish him for doing so. In all of these cases it seems like the news tries to break a story and the NCAA tries to sweep it under the rug.

I guarntee that if this was North Texas, they would already be on 9,000 years probation (no one is going to get the death penalty.)

However, since it is one of the marquee schools, nothing will happen unless the presidents of the member institutions don't step-up. If I was Alabama's president I would be leading the charge. We all know what OU will do with this knowledge.

I'm sorry guys, I know this is a worn out topic on here that many aren't excited to discuss, but I believe that this is a very very important issue as it shows that the integrity of CFB is at great risk (and that isn't even mentioning the anti-trust that is the BCS).

But has Texas ever had a Fed Ex or Big Red Motors - type cheating situation in like, ever?

Assuming that we are like every other school such as USC, OU, or even late 80's aggy, but our cheating ways are hidden by a bunch of graduates from a law school as great as a law school such ours... couldn't we cheat more without worry of any serious NCAA sanctions?

Imagine... at least a couple NC in the next ten years? I know it is a dirty feeling, but think about it.

OR

Assuming that we are a squeaky clean program, which we definitely seem to be under Mack Brown, why not cheat our asses off and win a zillion NC's and make a point?

Honestly, short of Harvard, can anyone win an arms race against Texas?

I know that this post may be fodder for A&M or Sooner fans, but no one can contest that our program, despite legal troubles from student athletes that have had a problem with screwing up legally, is one of the cleanest out there? Can't we at least dream of what it must be like to be cheaters too?

As an SMU Law grad and a Mustang season ticket holder, I can tell you that this is getting a lot of talk on the Hilltop as well. I think the fact that SMU was able to go out and get June Jones demonstrates that there are still plenty of boosters with money to spend to support the Mustangs.

It's been twenty years since the death penalty, and the shame has really started to wear off. It's being replaced by a sense both of victimhood and emboldenment. We all know that the NCAA wouldn't have done that to another school, and we all know that the NCAA won't do it to SMU again. So with no real threat of enforcement and with USC as a guide, there is a strong sentiment among the boosters that SMU should get back into the "pay for play" game.

SMU got the death penalty not because they were cheating--everyone was cheating--but because they were so brazen about it. That mindset is starting to come back. So don't be surprised if you see the tricked out red sports cars being driven around campus again, and if SMU doesn't get the type of winning team that goes along with that. And I will applaud from my season tickets on the 30.

Pony Up and F' the NCAA.

Bush didn't give his deposition today like he was scheduled to. His attorney's filed a motion in an attempt to keep the depositions (or transcripts) from reaching the media and the NCAA.

I think that is really gives the appearance of guilt (I know this isn't a criminal trial).
