It is just crazy to know that tomorrow I will have a kid. You can get ready as much as possible, but the magnitude of it just hit me tonight. Wish us well. I have never been so excited or scared in my whole life.

PS: I did add a season ticket to the LHF donation for little one, so we are good on that front.

Best wishes to you and your family, Wesser. There is nothing quite like becoming a father - enjoy every minute of it (the cheers and the tears, and I'll guarantee you there will be some of both along the way). They grow up all too quickly...but then you get to become "Granddad!"

Congrats my man.
My wife is due on June 20th.

and I too, have never been this happy or scared at the same time.

good luck. Hope yours doesn't end up like our first. Induction didn't work, had to go C-section. It was fine in the end, but a longer recovery for a C-section than just inducing.

My little girl is 14 weeks old today. It seems like just yesterday that she was born. The whole birth went by in a flash (porbably because I was in shock).

I've been out of town all week and can't wait to get home tomorrow night and see her. I've never missed anyone so much.

Well, after 18 hours of labor, the doc determined that a c-section was necessary. The procedure went smoothly although I was scared for Mrs. Wesser. However, at 10:05 last night, my little one drew his first breath and we discovered why labor was so hard... he weighed 9lbs, 2oz. Big boy. He is healthly and reasonably happy... doesn't cry as much as I expected. He likes his Daddy and has taken to me. It is awesome, Rip... truly life affirming.

First off, congrats on the baby. I'm glad everything went well.

Secondly, I dont agree that 18 hours of labor warrants an automatic c-section. I think far too many OBs have an arbitrary time cut-off thats not based on evidence. Now, if the baby's heartrate plummeted, then by all means do a c-section, but my suspicion is that your baby was fine the whole way and that it was a totally unnecessary section.

Every time you do a c-section, the risks of perinatal complications jump 10 fold. C-sections are not justified unless the mom or baby is going downhill.

Congrats--our first is due May 29. It seems like yesterday that he was just a small blob on the ultrasound and they told us this week that if he came this instant, he'd (in all probability) be just frin from the get go.

Congrats! Welcome to the club.

congratz man!. Just got my little boy home today (born on the 10th). We got lucky in that from checking in to hospital to wife holding baby was less than 4 hours; kid was in a hurry to get out.

It is great feeling to be a dad.

Congrats, "Dad" Wesser - glad all went well. Enjoy your son - they do grow up quickly. I vividly remember the night my first was born (he's 36 now). I was in Southeast Asia when number two was born (my Longhorn son, now 34 and a Dad himself), I did get to go into the delivery room for my youngest son (29 now). There's nothing like being a Dad. I'd like to offer you a couple of thoughts to keep in mind -

(1) The child is yours for 18 years; you and your wife are "till death do us part." Keep your wife number one.
(2) You are raising your child to become an adult, capable of thinking for himself. Respect that, because his thoughts won't always be the same as yours.
(3) Keep your sense of humor.

Hope Mom and son continue to do well.
