So long Syracuse

NIT the last two years and the NCAAs in 2006 only because McNamara went nuts. This is now a mediocre program.

After what happened in '03, I ain't crying!

Georgia Tech and Illinois haven't been setting the world on fire after their championship game appearances, either.

At least in the instance of Syracuse and GT, it hasn't been recruiting. Syracuse in particular has put together some really good classes. Maryland and Illinois, on the other hand, have completely dropped off the radar for the most part.

But yeah. Syracuse is definitely in the doldrums right now as a program. I do think they'll return to form next year.

Oklahoma State?

Trying to think of what other orange teams there are:
Clemson- lock
Texas - lock obv
Tenn - lock obv
Oregon St - horrible beyond belief
Illinois - no postseason

Drawing a real blank. Florida has a lot of orange, but I would say they are blue. They will be NIT bound as well.

TXSooner518,

That's a joke. austintex is making a well played reference to Syracuse making a big deal out of being the only school with orange as their primary color earlier this year.

Well done, austintex. I got a chuckle out of it.

wait, what? they said that?

oops i missed that whole discussion. carry on.

also as a Sooner fan who had to watch us play as a 1 vs a 3 seed Syracuse in fkng Albany, NY, I agree fk Syracuse. Also, fk Okie State who had Cuse down 18 in the second round and then aggied it up.

Syracuse = Worst fans ever.

Other than the nice people we sold our championship game tickets to, I don't recall ever witnessing a more obnoxious group...with the possible exception of a few rival schools of course. I'm sure being in New Orleans didn't help.

Syracuse definitely struggled this season, but losing your top 2 players to injury is a lot to overcome. Where would we be this year without Augustin and James? Under .500, that's where.

The Orange have some talent, and should be pretty good next season (assuming there are no departures).

Why some of you revel in the misfortunes of other schools is beyond me. It's not as if Syracuse cheated its way to victory in '03, or that we got bad calls from the refs. It sucks to lose, especially when we got so close to the final, but hating the winner doesn't change the score.

They are my least favorite college basketball program, so I rather enjoy their recent trend of mediocrity.

The fact that Sean McDonough, a Syracuse grad, has to call all their games makes it even better. I actually like McDonough, but his pain during the broadcasts just adds to the experience.

'Cuse Horn:

As mentioned on this thread, the fans attitude has something to do with it.

Personally, I can't hate because we "borrowed" the 2-3 zone after that game. I think that mixing a little zone has improved the balance of the teams RB has run out since that time.

I've seen some NIT projections that have Nebraska in their region.
