I'm in Buenos Aires, there is a "parrilla" on the rooftop terrace and my 15-20 person guest list passed 30 people sometime this morning around 2:00am.

Fortunately beef, and everything else, is going for pennies on the dollar. I will try to take pictures and then figure out a place to post them. It might not happen.

I am NOT going to be doing the cooking, because I don't know the tricks to cooking meat over an open flame for 2 hours and not having it come out like leather. (Actually, maybe HIGH FAT CONTENT is the trick.)

Although I can't stand the "innerds" (and neither can any other extrañeros I know down here, I might buy some of that dogfood level stuff for the Porteños a the party.

Not much.

I'll report costs after I buy the beef. I think that I'm going to buy from a "more expensive" carniceria (sp?) vs. the grocery store (DISCO o NORTE), because I've been told the beef is better.

But I think that a 4-4.5 lbs been tenderloin (bife de lomo) costs about US$15-US$16... that's not much. The beef is literally about 3 to 4 times CHEAPER than in the States.

(And you should see how the Europeans & British react to this stuff. Compared to back home, they literally pay about 1/6th- 1/8th the cost for MUCH better beef.)

Just got back from a few stores.
"Bife de Lomo"- Beef Tenderloin
~Ar$38-Ar$40/kg (38 to 40 pesos per 2.2 lbs)

exchange ~ 3.15 pesos to the US$1.

US$5.48 to US$5.77 per pound for a Beef Tenderloin.
I don't think that that is very expensive.

I picked up some intestines (chinchulines) and they were practically giving that **** away. About US$0.80/pound.

Little chorizos strung together were going for about US$2.50/pound.

Blood Sausage was about the same I think.

I stayed away from all of the other dogfood type items. Maybe one of my guests will get a hankering for something and run to the grocery store later.

Napoleon, I hope you have a great bday Asado.

I was down there the month of June and fell in love with that country.
