Im on this health kick, and need a new drink. Please help!
Beer is good, but it seems to be bad for you when you want to lose weight. I need ideas for some good drinks to order instead of the standard beer.

Vodka. Relatively few calories and you can mix it with just about anything: soda, tonic, OJ, 7, etc. Not to mention vodka martinis.

Vodka & soda is probably the lightest though (no sugar, like tonic).

if you're really serious about losing weight, you should really nut up and drop all alcohol. drink tea (no sugar) or water.

Light beer is going to have about 100 calories. A shot of vodka is about 80. If you mix vodka with tonic or 7up you are getting more calories than if you drank most regular beers. Vodka sodas, and whiskey/rum with Diet Coke will be about the only thing that gets you less calories than beer, but it won't be much.

Vodka and Soda. Only way to go. But yes, to really do it you need to cut it out 100%. Maybe just drink 1/2 as much at first.

lol, thanks people, but i drink probably five 20 oz beers 2 or three times a week, then on weekends probably a twelve pack on friday and saturday.... just an estimate.....thats a **** load to me. and i know all of you hard asses might say you could drink me under the table, but this is just talking about social drinking.....and i know if you are trying to diet this is not a good thing.

yes it was, but thats only because i haven't found a new drink !

Any liqour should be the lowest calorie form of alcohol you can get, I don't believe it matters which you choose. The next trick is either drinking it straight, or with 0 or low calorie mixers.

I believe its something like 4 calories per gram of protien or carbs, 7 per gram of alcohol, and 9 per gram of fat. I may have the per gram part wrong, but i know its 4/4/7/9. So to get drunk for the least calories, you want to stick with straight liqour, and maybe zero calorie mixers.

Vodka and diet coke is my drink of choiuce when I am on a health kick. The problem I have with drinking liquir is that I drink it at the same rate as I dirnk beer, so I usually end up trashed.

the reason i suggest dropping alcohol altogether is cause i'm like you....i casually drink during a game or something, and all of a sudden i've gone through a 6 pack of tallboys, aka a fuckload of empty calories. this is light drinking in my mind, and there's no losing weight with that sort of habit

so i just had to quit cold turkey. and that has nothing to do with putting bourbon in the freezer.

once i got in pretty decent shape i could start drinking beer again. it's much easier to keep weight off than taking it off in my experience.

My new drink is Hangar Mandarin Vodka and water. Its delicious. Great for the diet but pretty horrible for the livern

You are better off cutting your beer intake down than switching to liquor. Last year, I quit alchohol completely for 7 months just to see if I could do it. I lost 20 pounds, my skin looked good and I felt like a million bucks. That being said, after the first month or so, I didn't miss drinking. Set a goal that works for you (like a b-day or holiday), get your weight down, then go from there.

Regular drinking in general slows your metabolism up to 30%. If you want to be 100% healthy, then alcohol should be nixed all together. Bruce Lee once credited some of his physical fitness to the avoidance of alcohol.
