So I was at the zoo today with NU and AZ players

I kept a coke in my had all day in case I saw Mike Stoops, but no luck.

AZ has a handful of dorky white guys sporting hiphop styles, complete with sideways ball caps and gold chains.

Meanwhile, Mr. Suh was exiting the men's room when I was entering. His forearms weren't that impressive. No wonder aggy didn't offer.

BigWill:

You should have challenged Suh to an arm wrestling match. Unless. of course, you were ascairt of him.

I couldn't arm wrestle anyone. I had a beer in each hand, and i wasn't about to put them down.

By the way, I saw the Foles kid (from Austin IIRC) interact with several fans. He seems like a real good kid..he was gracious and polite.

girlfriend's sister, BIL, and kids are down visiting. The zoo is awesome, and I'm always willing to go. I have a membership, so it doesn't cost anything to get in. Of course the beers are 7 bucks each.
It was a bit crowded yesterday though.

I didn't realize that it was team day until I saw a whole shitload of big farmboys in Nebraska gear. Then it hit me that it's a traditional trip for Holiday Bowl participants.

I love animals, and I love going to zoos> The San Diego zoo is the best in the country. I'd love to go there sometime. BigWill, can I stay at your place?

Big Will - I love animals too but I almost killed a sea lion at the San Diego zoo back in the early nineties.
I'll explain at the HornFans tailgate

I've purchased annual passes to the Zoo/Wild Animal Park, Sea World, and (ahem) Disneyland.

I'm no Johnny M. I only go to Disneyland when I have guests in town...the annual purchases are merely to save money.

The Zoo/WAP however, I do whenever I can.

Forget the animals...the San Diego Zoo has one of the finest plant collections around. The landscaping is beautiful. I sit in the aviarys and stare into space like a mental patient for hours. I only occasionally get bird **** in my beer (when I forget to do the napkin on top trick).

I love the San Diego Zoo. I lived for years really close by, on Upas Street. Balboa Park is the coolest park around.

I have seen many teams around town for the Holiday Bowl, including the Horns a couple years in a row. I was always surprised that so many of the players seem kind of small, or at least average sized. Then there is a core group of guys who look very much like big-time football players. But what really struck me is that they are all very much kids. Always goofing around, shoving each other around, having fun.

Am I the only one wondering why they serve beer at the zoo?

I mean, I like the option of having beer at just about any function -- ballgame, wedding, brain surgery. But drunks and caged animals?

So due to snowstorms at home, the Nebraska band won't be making the trip to the holiday bowl.

Strangely enough...there's a high school band in town for another event...from Lincoln, Nebraska.

They will be filling in for the Husker band. That's gotta be a big deal for those kids.
