Ok, so a couple of months ago I made the following reservations using SWA RR and Starwood Points to get me to the Orange Bowl for the NC game…

The Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa, Hollywood, FL … 1/7-1/10, 1000sqft suite

SWA – Hou to Orl to Ft. Lauderdale 1/07/09 1:55 – 7:15pm
Ft. Lauderdale to TB to Hou 1/10/09 11 – 2:35pm

My question is this, I can transfer this trip for two to anyone…what can I charge for it? Is there a big demand for air and hotel for this game…out of Houston?

My guess is that it is worth about ($1000-air, $1500-hotel) $2500 for the whole trip. The SWA RR vouchers are usually worth about $250/piece and the starwood points I would guess are worth (60,000 total) about $0.02 for $1200…for a total package of $1700. Is $800 bucks worth giving up the rewards vs. utility of future use?

I don’t have an urgent need for the money, but if I could a better than decent profit off of this I would go for it, assuming there is a market.

You can go to SWA's site right now and get the flights you're talking about for $515, so I don't see how you're going to charge any more than that.

As far as the hotel, there are still rooms there for around $450-$500 per night; they don't appear to be suites, but how many people would want to lay out $1500 for a hotel for this game that haven't made plans already?

I'd offer the package up for $1,700 or just keep the points, I don't see how you're going to get much more than that at this point...

You probably can add someone(s) to the hotel rooms, but I have serious doubts any airline will let you resell their seats.

I'm just trying to imagine the phone conversation with Southwest: "I want my long-lost...aunt and uncle...yeah, that's it...aunt and uncle to have my previously purchased seats to Florida. What? what do you mean they have to get at the end of the line like anyone else? But I'm effectively giving them my place in line. It's the rule of 'dibs'. I have dibs on these seats, and I want to give my dibs to Uncle Walt and Aunt Sally."

I'm assuming you are planning to sell you house one day and part of the package is for the bank to be cool with the idea that the new buyers will just take over the payments?

good luck getting a new name on those tickets in the next couple days. i made the mistake of booking a flight for my wife after we were married and accidentally used her maiden name (it was saved in my travel profiles). seeing as the name on the tickets didn't match the name on her id, we had to get the tickets changed. i had to jump thru all sorts of hoops and it took about a week to get everything completed.
