Erin Andrews is a good looking woman who can do some dances better than others.
Welcome to that club, Erin.
Her fine, shapely bottom is, thus far, an unfortunant, movement lacking liability in Latin dance and her height and length will need to be well coached and under control when put on display in either a stylish waltz or the quick step.
At this early point in this tough competition, Erin appesrs to be better at and better suited for her choosen field of observation and commentary (both from her and about her) than for competitive action like dance contest participation.
I think she's simply more of a looker than a doer.
C'mon Erin; lose the clunky, get funky and shake it!!
We'll see.
For me, the Pussycat Doll and the Olympic ice skater are the class of the field.
They've each had lots of previous performance practice moving while doing sequences and striking poses and. IMO, the other competitors will have a hard time progressing to the point these two have already reached.
I think their backgrounds/discipline/previous training/body style/performing experience has given them a big head start advantage over the other contestants.
Watching them dance with their professional partners, I can sometimes forget who's a pro and who's the student.
That's what I see.
Some of the pros are decidedly better at choreographing/teaching AND catering to and pleasing the judges.
Derek Hough and the red-headed Russian pro are two of the best at this.
The three judges are pretty consistent and are clearly outspoken about what they like and look for.
Derek and Red pay attention to the judges' preferences and also have the most dance talented celebrities with which to work.
Mr. Hough, especially, has proven himself adept and adaptable as a front runner in previous seasons.
So, the Pussycat Doll and the Olympic ice skater seem perfectly partnered and positioned with Derek and that Russian red head, respectively, as their mentors
To me, at this point, those two dance couples look very hard to beat.
Again, we'll see.
Pamela Anderson has danced quite well, IMO, and has been rewarded by the judges with some of their highest marks.
She can shake it with the best, looking much like Tina Turner on her first week's dance.
And then she channeled Marilyn Monroe's sensuality and style on her second slower dance.
However, she evidently does not yet have large audience approval, since she couldn't get enough phone votes at the initial call-in to keep her out of the first bottom two.
So, once again, we'll see.
Chad Ochocinco displays a slouchy posture, when he's dancing, sitting and standing, and lacks focus and discipline, thus far.
And Kate Gosselin is a loser in countless ways.
Shannon Doherty probably didn't deserve to be the first celebrity to walk, but her dancing wouldn't have allowed her to stay much longer, in any case.
So, Buzz, Kate and Chad seem to be the most in over their heads dance-wise and, I guess, Pamela is in trouble audience approval-wise.
As always, we'll see.
Kudos to anybody who agrees to do this show.
It's even harder than playing duplicate bridge with people who really care.
And it's more revealing about your ability than, say, playing 6 man football.
In 6 man football there's certainly no place to hide, but on "Dancing With The Stars" the only protection that's avaliable is your costume and the best and more well-endowed celebs and pros sometimes eschew much costume coverage at all and always take advantage of whatever body covering they have or don't have.
Lots of great eye candy, copious dance talent, fine music, some drama and possible pathos with occasionally a sharp, ad libbed witticism from host Tom Bergeron are what keep my wife and I watching.
When you can record the program and zoom right through the commercials and any other parts you want to skip, I think it's a very entertaining show.
