Seriously, though, the number of Mr. Myagi one-liners in that movie was astounding. As a kid I had no idea the level of funny that movie achieved.. on purpose! It's teh good.

This is completely random, but I think of the Karate Kid every time I hear Tom Petty's Free Fallin'. In the movie they moved to Reseda. In Free Fallin', "It's a long day, livin' in Reseda."

My wife and I were out in LA for the Rose Bowl, driving around in our rental car. We passed a freeway exit for Reseda and I said, "Hey cool, there's Reseda... you know, from the Karate Kid and Free Fallin. I always wondered where that was." She looked at me like I was completely retarded, which, of course, I was.

needless to say, this thread is in my wheelhouse.

the scene on the beach where the drunk dudes throw the asain slur at miagi is a little uncomfortable these days but miagi keeps composure and naturally fucks up the beer bottles followed by the white trash dudes having stupid face for the remainder of the scene.

i still think larusso got in a pretty good punch on Johnny at the beach.
