came home from hospital yesterday. great time to be homebound - Masters, Mavs, Rangers, Stars - spring weather. life is good.

strange way of finding out I needed one...had no symptoms of heart problems...but, had a mole that came back as "melanoma" from trip to dermatologist...had surgery two weeks ago to remove the mole and discovered that I had an AV block in my heart. good thing I was once young and stupid and stayed out in the sun too long so I could find out about the heart problem in it's early stages.

Strange how things work out. Glad you are feeling well and are enjoying your recuperation. Nothing beats watching sports on TV while you rest at home!

Hope your recovery keeps going well!

My 81 year old Dad just got one and is doing great. Best of luck and it looks like a good Masters weekend.

My dad (79) got one a couple of years ago. He was sitting at the kitchen table and his head dropped and nearly smacked into the table. Scared the crap out of my mom but he said he was fine. It happened again a day later and he said it felt like someone had shaken up all the thoughts in his brain. This time my mom wasn't taking 'no' for an answer and took him to the hospital.

All of this happened without one word from my parents. I got a phone call at dinner from my mom telling me that my dad was having a pacemaker installed the next day and they didn't tell us before because they didn't want to worry us. Umm...thanks? I had to leave the restaurant because there was no way I was eating anything after that conversation.

In the end it wasn't that big of a deal and he's fine but I feel the way my parents handle things like this is the suck.

my little sister (she's 23) has one too. great little device they are.

It was a great weekend for watching sports. Rangers got swept (check); Mavs lose at Portland and Seattle (check); Stars jumpout to 2-0 lead over Ducks (where'd that come from?); Horns finally win one in Mizzou after giving up 362 runs; but the best: I came in 2nd place in my Masters Pool and won $250.

Have to make sure I don't yell too loud.

Note to non-parents, well and parents too: The reason parents don't want to tell the kids bad news is that they don't want to see the kids upset. But, I've learned, you got to tell them. Keep them up to date. It's MUCH easier (as noted in earlier post) than trying to play catch-up later.

Thanks for all the nice sentiments. Go Horns!

Glad you're doing well.

If something were wrong with me I probably wouldn't tell my daughter. But then she's just 3 months old and she'd probably just smile and then fill her diaper for me.
