So I got a MacBook PRO for Christmas

What do I need to know about this bad boy? One of the things I wanted to do with a laptop was to capture video from my satellite set top box. Can I do this with my MacBook? Any advice as I bounce back and forth from my PC desktop to Mac laptop?

Go ahead and move all of your stuff off the PC and onto the Mac. Once you go Mac you'll you'll never go back. We started with a Macbook to compliment our PC desktop a few years ago. Now we have two more iMac's and the PC probably hasn't been turned on in 6 months or more.

I don;t know of any way of converting DVR video to a computer except using an external video converter. There are of course ways to hack DVRs to get the raw video data.
I would also get one of the many PC emulators to run windows and windows apps on your MAC. start hanging out at coffee shops too.
