So I finally took a good look at the

Actually, I think way back in the begining of time at my freshmen orientation, the counselor (or whatever they were called) pointed it out on our tour, I just have forgotten about it since.

The burger at Dirty Martin's and the hotties on campus were much more noteworthy.

Dirty's is by far the best burger in town. My grandmother was a dirty's addict since it opened back in the 20's.

I may be off base, but is he talking about the George Washington statue on the South Mall? If not, what the hell are you talking about?

Players made good burgers back when I was in School. Is it still there?

namesake.....you haven't been standing behind ole George, looking at him from a 45-degree angle again, have you?

NYC.....I seem to recall that I noticed Players was closed last time I was in Austin. That was a big-time football player hangout in the late 80's........hey, we sucked then.......maybe its good that it is closed!

There was a thread a few days ago that was authenticating who was and who wasn't a Texas alumnus by asking what was strange about a certian statue on the South Mall.

I didn't know, I became insecure in my "Longhornness", so I went and found out at lunch the other day.

Now I am ready for the season, comfortable that I can prove to people on the internet that I actually spent 5 and half years of my life on campus.

I couldn't find the other thread, so I just felt like announcing my new found credibility on this one.

Don't know much about erotic statues... but I used to look for bullet holes in the statue near the spot where Office Billy Speed was shot by Whitman. That whole thing always fried me.

I miss ordering "Austin's Favorite" at Mad Dog and Beans. It was just off the drag. In order to work there, you had to play for either the Huns, Skunks, or Skid Marks (Raul's was closed by then). Sure it had sprouts and avocado, but back in those days, we were not so concerned with junk like that.

I wish I would have gone to Players because the walk to the Statue would have been MUCH shorter.

But Dirty's does make a better burger..

btw, I am glad this thread was moved over here, I didn't know this board was here and there is some very cool stuff here.

Not sure about a statue with a pipe but how in the hell does Orange Turdfrog not know where Players is? How the crap is that possible?

I heard about that too, but never found out where it was. I did hear that they "fixed" what you could smoke out of so it isn't usable any more. But, since I never saw it I will just consider it all a rumor.

Maybe a year at Dobie opened my eyes to wonderland that is Players but the fact that anyone attends or attended UT and doesn't know where Player's is, offends me.

Players has OK burgers and awesome shakes. Anyone who went to UT has to know where its located. Give me a freakin break!

I also can't believe so many people here dont know about the statue???
