So I dropped my cell phone in Dr Pepper...

Yeah, I know, I'm a clumsy dumbass, but that's beside the point and now my phone, battery, and SIM card don't really work. Does anyone out there who has had a similiar experience (i.e. dropped their phone in a pool, etc.) have any advice on how to fix it?

I imagine there's a big difference between dropping your cell phone in Dr. Pepper and dropping it in water. Normally, you can just dry out a piece of electronic gear that has gotten wet, but the sugar in Dr. Pepper is probably going to create a big mess. Electrical contacts aren't going to work any more, etc. Try a little contact cleaner if drying it out doesn't work -- you should be able to pick some up at Radio Shack.

The sugary residue will not be your friend. Good luck.

The SIM Card should still work. Now, if you allow the phone to dry it possibly will work again. Try not to power the phone on as you are drying it. I did that with mine and the display went out. I had a Nokia. I have dropped 2 phones in water. I got one to work after about a week of drying it out. The other one, I tried drying it out and powering it up the sameday that it fell in the water. Didn't work well with that phone.

Also, don't be in the house if you do this and double check your home or renters insurance.

Yep 3 years ago a buddy dropped my day old nokia in a glass of koolaid. I opened it up and the it was all sticky and gooey and the lcd crapped out. Luckily i bought the insurance otherwise it would have been 300 to replace. SOunds like you got lucky.

My display went out 3 weeks to the day after buying my first phone. I didn't buy the insurance, but...

I bought it after the fact. Then I reported the problem after that. Low and behold, I got a new phone.

My wifes broke and we didn't want to spend 150 on a new one or extend our contract. Some cell phone stores sell used ones that people trade in. Got a slick Motorolla (nicer than the one she had before) for $40. In about 20 minutes it was activated with her old phone number. An option for those who drop their phones in a glass of pineapple flavored diet Fanta.
