So how was DKR Sunday night?

Some of us didn’t get to attend but we already know the answer: it was rocking! Watching from home they had a bunch of crowd shots and it looked like a blast. Sounded like the place blew up when Ty made that winning dive.

Tell us anyway. How was the experience?

Dion,

It was very different than any game I have been to since the upper deck opened. I always arrive about an hour before kickoff. Very little pedestrian traffic around 23rd and San Jacinto. Security usually has at least 50+ people (if not hundreds) trying to get through my entrance. The escalator up to the seventh floor always starts with a line and then crowding on the escalator. Sunday evening, I was one of three people at the security check, no line for the escalator, and 30 minutes before kickoff, it looked like there might be 35,000 in Memorial Stadium. This is my 46th year doing this, and it was really different.

NO TICKET SELLERS OR SCALPERS!

By kickoff, the stadium was full and it was by far the loudest and most involved crowd I have witnessed in Memorial Stadium in all my years. It seemed that the team would not allow the crowd to move into their usual "golf clap" mode. There were a couple of times in the second half when ND was coming back that the crowd went into the "I've seen this before" lull. The players would then make a great play to once again ignite the crowd. Best game day atmosphere I've seen on The Forty Acres. Perhaps the single most physical I've seen the Horns. When ND came back, I told my daughter that we may lose, but the ND players were getting beat up and would be sore for days.

To the negative, as easy as it was to get in, it was impossible to get out. The Westside ramps were gridlocked. The police were clueless in traffic management around the stadium. Took me longer to get out of the garage and across 35 than it usually does to get to Bastrop. The win made that wait much more bearable.

Administration was nowhere near ready for this crowd, concession stand ran out of soft drinks, food and ice at halftime. Don't know what group has the 7th floor concession stand on northwest side, but they should be banned. Running out of food is on Sedexo - this isn't their first time coming up short, but rather at least the third. The organization manning that stand could not handle my grandson's 7 yr old baseball game concessions. Total cluster. Very few, if any drink vendors in the stands.

The Jumbotron audio remains an abomination. Blaring over the band, the referee's announcements on reviews, and it is just noise, because you really can't understand anything coming out of it. We still have the goofy weatherman, the sideline bimbo, and the midget Percy Miller wannabe occupying space. It's hard to decide which is worse, them or the obnoxious commercials.

All minor complaints considering the great victory.

It was rocking. It reminded me of when Ohio State came to town after our national championship season. Only the volume went down when Ohio St got a good lead. There was a period in the game where ND was closing the gap with the score that the fans were taken out of it somewhat compared to the rest of the game. But we gained it back when you could see our players fighting for everything they got. One particular play Foreman tried to take it up the middle and disappeared for a second only to bounce it outside then getting unexpected extra yardage because his motor didn't stop despite being out numbered by ND defenders. That made the crowd erupt.

It was pandemonium when TS scored the game winner. Still not as loud or rocking as 1990 UH game IMO, but probably the closest to that I have seen in the 26 years since.

Good buzz throughout the game except for a period after the missed PAT return. Shock and disbelief, got very quiet.

Not enough good beers, vendors, no more Austin's Pizza (Gatti's slices).

Why aren't there PA speakers above the NEZ so the north half of the stadium can hear?

The LHB is now in the NE corner. Can't hear them at all in the NW corner. Should have stayed in the South.

The four pitiful little Roman candles going off from the top of godzillatron are still there, but some pretty good fireworks at the end of the game.

Probably 90% of the crowd were still in the stands 10-15 mins after the end of OT. Can't recall that ever happening.

A great night.

The atmosphere rocked! I thought I'd like new band location but not so. Being in the NEZ cannot hear them anymore, for us the South EZ location was much better.
And blondy on jumbo every five minutes spewing nonsense gets aggravating. Would rather have the game stats in the corner like we used to get, than all the garbage (imo) we are getting now.

Pretty Amazing environment. We got there early with no congestion problems. We are in 114, and I think it might hold the record for Beers sold/Section for a game, LOL. Domer fans around us were super cool with the occasional outliers, who got too liquored up and were escorted out. Godzillatron was toned down, not the constant ads and thumping. Crowd was outrageous. Very loud. And I agree, I wish the band was still in SEZ, new location makes it hard to hear them in the NEZ. Can't wait for UTEP.

An amazing game with the crowd following the highs and lows of the game. We are in 104 and had some ND fans mixed in the group but not as many as the NEZ. All were friendly and had good game sense. at least the ones around us.

Reminded me a lot of the WVA game a few years back but we won this one.

Arrived an hour before kickoff to see the new sights - Bevo, flyover, band relo and mostly watch the crowd. Stayed until the Eyes played and it was rocking most of the game.
LHB in NEZ 18 was much quieter than LHB in SEZ seats plus the addition of students in SEZ didn't seems as much volume as I would expect 4500 to make.

The beer lines were long at halftime but you could walk over to where the stadium vendors were coming out in blue shirts and buy just about anytime. So we did.

Getting out was a mess because 102K stayed to the end. Saw very few leave before 2 OT was done.

Been going to DKR since b4 upper deck added and can remember the astro turf being installed but this game was the best I have ever attended at DKR.

Big win.

Splendid! As you well know, our dedicated team of collaborative ROI synergists worked hard on what I proudly call the Longhorn Atmosphere Media Experience (L.A.M.E.), a key component of our overall plan to deliver superior fan engagement and proactive alignment of in-game brand innovation.

Hook'em!

The whole game their was an atmosphere that hasn't been there in at least 4 years. This game reminded me of the OK State game, I believe it was in 2004. That place was absolutely rocking. We were in 104 and the only downside to the whole night was trying to get out because NOBODY was leaving early. Totally worth everything. Will remember this game and this crowd forever. Thanks to everyone for an awesome experience!!!

The overall atmosphere (fans being into it) was great...still not anywhere near the UH game in 90 but still great. Went nuts when we won!!

Downside....coming from the new upper deck to the old and to 107 was a cluster of epic proportions! Who's idiotic idea it was/is to but a huge merchandise booth right in the middle of where thousands of people are trying to get through is just beyond me. You could hardly move and tempers were getting raised quickly. It just isn't smart to plug up a main walkway...dangerous if an emergency where to happen. They did also run out of pretty much everything outside 107

One thing that helps the 1990 UH game in this comparison is it did not have all the BS distractions on the Jumbotron.
