Snipe Hunt

Have you ever been on a snipe hunt? If you are one of the 45 percent of Republicans who believe Obama was born in Kenya you've just been on the political equivalent.. Funny thing is most of those ditched out in the woods after dark blame the prey.

I can't tell you how many times I've been approached by people who say that Obama arrogantly refused to show his birth certificate. About 60 percent seemed genuinely surprised to learn that he did in fact produce and make public in 2008 exactly the document what most Hawaii residents would produce to get a passport, enroll in school etc. Of the 40 percent that didn't, they would at first fein surpirse. Then when I'd show an aticle or a weblink they were ready with "it's an obvious fake" or this "this certificate of live birth" is "something less than a real birth certificate." I'm suspecting the latter category was just trying to keep the snipe hunt going long enough to leave their less sophisticated Republican bretheran out in the woods.

Hillary never asked Obama to show his birth certificate. This is another fabrication of the birther camp. Lie. Repeat lie. Repeat, repeat, repeat. People start to believe it.

So why release anything now? This may be the first snipe hunt that produced results.

All right have you seen the video of the Town meeting where the woman wails about the United States being led by a foreigner. The "snipe" was proof that Obama was born in Kenya and it's fictional and smart people have known it's fictional since the very beginning.

So Oilfield, were you one of the birthers who believed:
1. Obama has always refused to release a birth certificatre.
2. The released birth certificate was an obvious forgery, despite the Republican governor of Hawaitt vouching for it's authenticity.
3. Convinced that perhaps he was born in Hawaii, but the long form certificate would produce some nefarious information.
4. This is a bunch of BS but as long as we can keep the simple-minded invoved it's a great use of time?

what is this obesession on the left with the birth certificate? are you this upset with people that think we faked the moon landing?

SN: I pulled it from my memory. Here is a link to one site that provides the same number.http://learning.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/04/25/why-do-doubts-persist-about-where-president-obama-was-born/
As I researched, I saw other numbers that looked a little more reasonable, 41 percent of which only about 1/3 felt they had solid evidence he was born in Kenya and the others believing there was enough data to "strongly suspect" the foreign birth.

Why I find the birther so interesting is that a lot of people have trusted media that frankly looks very suspect to me. I think if they are upset about being misled it should be with the people who provided information, incredible guests with bogus info, etc. that stoked their suspicions or, in too many cases, had them strongly believing something that is patently untrue. They call on us all to use "critical thinking" when we listen to the mainstream media. Maybe they should use "critical thinking" with the right wing media of choice as well.

I think that the general lovefest that the mainstream media had with Barack Obama from the outset makes people suspect things about him that never got much media scrutiny. At least, that is the issue with me. No one (at least no well known medial types) seemed to investigate why he would not release his original birth certificate. No one investigated his college record at all. No one really investigated his ties to Bill Ayers. No one ireally nvestigated his ties to Jeremiah Wright and why he would stay at such a church for 20 years. So people are left questioning why we know so little about the most powerful man in the world.

These days, however, it seems that it is liberals more so than conservatives bringing up the "birther" controversy. I sure don't consider Donald Trump to be a conserviative. It seems that the popular sport is to call people derogatory names (tea baggers, racists, mouth breathers, whatever) if they ask questions.

Well Oilfield, I gotta admit that what you just posted sounds pretty reasonable. The counterpoint is that we have conservative media with considerable resources -- and they waste their energy on BS.

You mean liberals like Donald Trump?

Yeah, you're right. My bad. Ayers is just a guy in Obama's neighborhood.

He writes a pretty good book now and again as well.

The stupidity pushed by the R's and conservatives is astounding. Yet they will play word games on this thread like they never pushed the birther agenda. What is worse are the ones who spread the lies knowing such
