This jackass in my neighborhood buys pet rabbits for his kids. Of course, they never take care of them and the multiply like crazy, so he decided it would be a good idea to let them out for a romp in his backyard.
He was talking about it one day and was curious what kept happening to his kid's rabbits. We have 2 pair of hawks who constantly circle our neighborhood. One pair has a nest in a huge poplar tree in my backyard. They are fun to watch and they stay fat and happy on the rabbit meals.
I have a 18 Lbs rat terrier. I was walking him one afternoon along a busy street in The Woodlands and a turkey vulture appeared out of nowhere on the bike path about 50 ft ahead of us.
The freekin bird starts walking right at us with wings extended.....my rat went bat sh** crazy barking, his short haired fur standing on end. The bird did a 180 and moved off into a parking lot.
I still find this a little surprising as I thought turkey vultures would only eat dead stuff, not be emboldened enough to challenge a man with his dog. Theres ample road kill here in The Woodlands as a result of all the busy SUV moms barreling about the community with their kids screaming and their cell phones at their ears - no need to try and take us on.
