An interesting article on how the Left has embraced a smugness and a phony moral and intellectual superiority rooted in a belief that its ideology is a monopoly on facts rather than a mere political opinion or world view. What I find noteworthy about it isn't that it discusses the smugness of American liberals. Shallow, self-serving articles that do that are a dime a dozen on sites like Breitbart, Daily Caller, etc. What's noteworthy is that it's coming from a publication (Vox) that often exemplifies the very smugness at issue. Furthermore, it's not coming from a conservative or a bitter old liberal who has been frozen out of the Party. It's written by a young, liberal millennial, who's showing a lot more perspective and ideological self-reflection than I would expect from someone who fits his demographic. I actually think he's a little unfair to liberals on a few points, but I think he's mostly right.
