Smoothies

Apparently I'm too lazy to chew food, but not lazy enough to cut up fruit, open up 2-3 containers and do dishes afterwards - lately I've been making smoothies for breakfast. The consistent ingredients are:

1 cup milk
3-4 tablespoons of yogurt
1 scoop whey protein
1 banana
1-2 cups of fresh fruit
1/4 cup of some type of juice (optional but good)

So far I've made smoothies with peaches, strawberries, papayas, and apples. I also have some mango that's ripening, just waiting to be thrown into the blender. I sometimes add a teaspoon of Metamucil for extra fiber and flavor.

Any of you make smoothies as meal replacements? Any fruits that I should try? Any other ingredients, e.g. fiber, vitamins, etc. that you throw in with your smoothie?

Your recipe/s sound good SH, I do similar about every 4-5th one I make.

I've been using a smoothie-type drink to start my day 4-5 times a week. I really noticed the difference in how it made me feel once I reached 30 and was putting in LONG hours at culinary school and work.

I generally keep it simple, and fast, and use a reg size container of fruit yogurt, banana, 2% milk and a few cubes of ice. Sometimes I'll add protein powder, extra fruit (fresh or frozen), and/or some silk tofu.

I figure, even if I don't finish the whole thing, which happens often, I at least got something in me that gives my body energy w/o spending a lot of effort or $.

I consider myself an expert on smoothies.

Buy a big bag of frozen strawberries.

Also use canned pineapple, and the juice, then throw in any thing you might like.

I like a good mixture of fruits.

If you are feeling less healthy, use sherbet as a base, that stuff makes it killa.

I make a smoothie every day for breakfast. I think the key is using apple juice, which is very sweet and takes on the flavors of the other fruit very well and frozen fruit, which eliminates the need for ice. Also, bananas are key for the texture.

Here's my usual recipe:
2 bananas
cup or so frozen pineapple
a cup or so frozen blueberries
a cup or so frozen mango
1 scoop spirulina powder
15 drops grapefruit seed extract
1 tbs flax seed oil
1 scoop hemp seed protein powder (I really prefer the texture and taste of hemp seed powder over other protein powders)

Sometimes I'll throw in spinach, carrots, aloe juice, coconut milk, or almond milk. Bee pollen also kicks in smoothies. I also like the frozen acai packets, though I cut them in half b/c they're pretty expensive.

One of my post workout smoothies is
1 1/2 cups of milk
1 scoop chocolate whey protein
2 to 3 tablespoons of vanilla or plain yogurt
1/2 of a banana
2 tablespoons of peanut butter or almond butter
ice

It cures my sweet tooth without having anything horrible.
Fuckin it, I'm about to go make it right now....

My regular breakfast smoothie goes something like this:

I start with an individual container (6oz) of Cherry Yogurt in the blender. Then I fill the same container with milk and toss it in. Then I fill it up twice with frozen cherries. Then I add some protein powder and some ice and mix away. After I finish mixing and pour it in a glass I stir in some flax seeds. I do the flax seeds after mixing because they make cleaning the blender a pain in the *** which is ironic because I take the flax seeds party to reduce the chances of having pains in the ***. I also make the same basic smoothie using blackberries or dewberries.
