I ate there on Friday for lunch on my way back from making sure our lake house had no damage from the storms, and I thought I should mention it here.
This place is the tits. It may not be the best cue of your life, but it is consistenly good, if not great. It's so unpretentious, you walk up to the window and place your order, you get your food in about a minute, and then you go eat at the picnic tables. It's a stand rather than a restaraunt, but IMHO that adds to the atmosphere. I try to sop there anytime I'm out at the lake.
I usually get the "Square Meal on a Round Bun" (but don't ask for that, just say sliced brisket sandwhich or they look at you funny, despite the fact that the menu loudly proclaims that it is named as such), which is about half a pound of sliced brisket, some sauce, pickles and onions on a hamburger bun. For $3.25 you get filled up and don't even need any sides, although more often than not I'll pay the 75 cents for a side of potato salad. And their chopped barbecue, if you're into that, is probably the best I've had.
Seriously, next time you're going to or coming from Lake Travis, stop in and be pleasantly surprised. It's nice to find something down to earth and good to eat in the bastion of excess that the Lake Travis area has become.
