Nope... looks like interest has waned.

???????????????????????????????????????

Updated on request: So who is in for this coming Saturday? No posts to this revised tate (rainded out this past Saturday).

???????????????????????????????????????

PS: Won't hurt my feelers if you don't make it or if this thing fizzed out, but I do have hopes for a great Spring Fling with some of you louts...

===========================================

Had to start a new thread 'cause the old one was too aged for me to update the subject line.

(If a mod has that ability, then rock on... otherwise, this one can stand).

14 April
, & Anyone can come early & get a nice, smoky start to their day... first meats should be ready to roll around noon to 1p. We feed the horses around 6p or so & the kids are welcome to get in on this.

Everyone is invited & you don't have to be an HF regular or even a poster (this means lurkers are invited too, but you have to stand outside the fence & peek throught the trees...

)

Due to the possible volume, we don't expect to ask more than a $ 2.00 per head contribution & even then, this might not be requested.

We collectively decided it's best to move back one week due to rain; looking for an update on this thread (if the other one doesn't edit) for who is bringing what, re: sides & other meats.

Bring your stuff & show off whatcha got - do your own smoking & finish it off in a cooler on the drive out. Make sure you're OK with the distance - from the Y in Oak Hill, it's about a 25 - 30 minute drive & from MoPac & 183, you can easily figure on 45+ minutes. Find "Henly" on your internet mappping service of choice & we're about 5-1/2 miles SE from there (as the crow flies).

The only two conflicts that seem to be present are Tennis & Baseball, both playing in Austin.

I am trying to convince the wife. We will be at Canyon Lake that weekend and have a wedding at the Salt Lick that evening. If I do make it, I probably won't be able to bring any Q.

rox its not looking so good. i had thought the reschedule might bring more people because of easter, but i guess people need more time to plan for it. maybe pick a weekend down the road that folks can plan for well in advance? such a cool idea, hope you can make it go.

Hell, I was starting to think we should just see who wants to meet up @ The Lick & let them do the heavy lifting... BYOB as always for that joint.

But I also thought it would be cool to have a "your Q sucks... we're going to stop listening to you!" or "man, that was the best ever..."

Combined with the opportunity for some folks to hang out as long or short as they wanted & let the kids (if there were any) to run around @ their hearts content & feed the horses or explore the woods (can't get too far before you hit fence).

SOOO...
if anyone has any other ideas or wants to make a suggestion on a date, I'm all in so long as a consensus can be achieved for maximum participation.

One other item - this is the season for spotting some Turkeys & wildflowers, Onion Creek is up & there are a few spots to pull over (gotta ask me where) & soak your toes in the crik, PLUS
the weather is perfect this time of year & as y'all know, the heat comes on mighty fast.

The idea is great, and your property sounds fantastic. Can we try for a little more advance warning? (I know we had plenty of warning before weather intervened. I missed a wedding because of the same weather.)

Um... the first mention of it was about two months advance notice with a rain delay by one week.

OK, so who is in for the 3rd weekend of April, 2009?

Seriously; if anyone wants to come up with an alternate date, throw it out.
