Per 247Sports:
Shaka Smart made no mention of "Havoc" in his opening press conference as The University of Texas’ head men’s basketball coach, but he certainly did not shy away from talking about pace.

"We’re always going to be aggressive; we’re always going to be fast paced," Smart said.

That attitude worked well at VCU... [but] there is no guarantee the Longhorns play quite that same pesky brand of basketball under Smart, but it will be close. Something Smart’s former player said the Longhorns will love.

"It’s very fun," former VCU guard Darius Theus said. "It’s total effort, it’s physical. Once you get back to back steals and the crowd gets into it, it’s just amazing."

"You have the freedom to do whatever you want as long as it is in the system," former VCU guard Ed Nixon said. "He lets you play your game, which is huge."

His former players highlight Smart’s trust in them on the court. They work hard in practice to perfect the system, and once they’re actually in the game, Smart lets them play.

"It’s a whole lot of fun," Nixon said. "I wish I had more years under (Smart)."
