slow computer

My computer was running really slow so I took it in and had someone take a look at it. He said that there were some programs that were set to run whenever the somputer was on instead of only when needed that would slow the computer down. So he changed the settings and said that it should run a lot better now. When I got home and hooked it back up I can't tell a difference at all.

So my question is, could it be my wireless connection with ATT. Is there someway to check to see myself? Also, would it be better to not have a wireless connection?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Start-->Run, type 'msconfig', <enter>, click 'statup' tab.
Move slider so final file in directory can be seen for each item. Crosscheck each item with a checkbox here , uncheck all that are not required(will be most of them), reboot. You will get a nag message on reboot, tick box to ignore in future, leave in selective stat-up mode.

I would also suggest runningthis

I work with financial software for banks and was in on a webex with one and noticed their network was really really slow....the client told me that their IT person had contacted finallyfast.com for help with this issue.....I'm not sure if he was serious or not....but it didn't help their issue obviously. Idiots.
