If you are a Braves fan (like me) and grew up on WTBS (even in South Texas), you grew up listening to Skip Caray.

To me, he is the voice of the Braves.

Wow, that is shocking. Had his own unique style and his legacy with his sons is amazing. RIP.

RIP indeed. But he is the reason I hated the Braves. Couldn't stand his voice or his whining if the Braves were losing.

RIP. In all honesty, there was nothing worse than watching the last place Braves in the 80's and listening to Skip Carey broadcast "or not broadcast" the games. Soooo boring.

The thing is, though, that back in the 80s when the Braves were terrible, listening to Skip call the games made it sound like they were in contention.

He would of course be a homer, but at the same time, usually make a few jokes about how awful the team was. Not mean jokes, but subtle ones.

He was one of the best.
