Skateboarding

It depends. There are those who really got or get into it and for them it's what they do to relax and make a great connection.

What I do find odd is riding a tiny BMX bike to do rad tricks, and you are 3 feet too big for it.

My 38 year old son still skateboards every day.

He is 6'4'' and looks very stylish dropping in on a ramp or a bowl and when doing street tricks.

His idol was Tony Hawk, whom he met in Austin decades ago.

A 35 year old riding a skateboard is not odd. Now a 65 year old riding a skateboard...you might have a point. Maybe I should retire from the sport.

Picking it up at 35 would be odd, but if they were a skateboarder growing up they will always be a skateboarder.

Exactly. My body cannot take the punishment it did when I was a kid. I cannot take a spill and get up and laugh it off. I will ride but don't try to pull any tricks nor do I ride on streets or in public where I could intermingle with traffic. It's also a fun was to burn calories.

Friends of mine who have skated the whole time since we were kids are way more advanced than I am now since there is no way I can see that I can just pick up where I left off. No jumping trashcans any more. No more kick flips. Nothing rad or aggro. Just simple kick, push, carve.

While not 35, he's close at almost 29. The stuff he does, the lines he takes and the creativity he shows is mind blowing to people who skate as well as those who don't. There are numerous "whoa" and "did I just see that?" as well as "I don't know what I just saw, let me see it again" moments. Do yourself a 4 minute favor and watch Richie Jackson in his Transworld video. It's sickness.

Yes, this happened.
