Sisal flooring

We're thinking of covering our kitchen area (currently off-white ceramic tile that we detest) with sisal. We had thought about tearing it all out and putting in cork but sisal may be the easiest approach. Does anyone know how much it costs (in general) to install sisal per sq ft?

Call CDC Carpets in Westlake (327-8326). They do all types of natural flooring including cork, sisal and seagrass. The owner is a Texas Ex. If you talk to Wyoma tell her Jeff and Karen said hello from Alabama.

You can't really "clean" sisal, it is a natural fiber. It also expands and contracts with humidity and moisture. I think a kitchen of bathroom would be tough places for it.

We had some seagrass area rugs before my wife discovered that you can buy oriental rugs for the same price as a car, and the seagrass did not wear very well, IMHO. We chose seagrass over sisal because seagress is supposedly more durable.

We have sisal in a guest bathroom. My wife hates it. She has to vacuum it with a shop vac. We are going to replace it with tile. The sisal was original to the house. Also, it's very uncomfortable to walk on with barefeet.
