what else should I do? me and several friends had been planning a camping/tubing trip next weekend, but now our plans are in doubt due to the floods so we all are still wanting to get together but aren't familiar with many other option? I was looking at Pace Bend Park and that looks really cool, but I couldn't tell if they allowed alchohol in the campsites. Now beer isn't necessary when we are in or near the water but around the camp it is a must. Anybody know if that is cool in Pace Bend and if it is not what is another good place to go and camp/swim/drink.

Pacebend does indeed allow booze. However, if you are underage, they can be kinda strict during the day, but seem to relax once the sun goes down. They patrol the flats (on the right hand side once you get in) fairly hardcore, but don't spend much time on the cliff sides unless you are being loud.
But, Lake Travis was closed this weekend so it might be closed again. Call ahead to find out, and be sure to post your findings here

No glass containers

There's another park that's now high on my list - Muleshow Recreation Area on Lake Travis. It's down 71 just past Paleface Park, and its VERY cool. I went there the first time about three weeks ago, and had a great time.

It's a no frills park ... but man, there were NO crowds there, and my buddy said that even on holiday weekends, it's not crowded. You can drive right down to the edge of the water and walk right in, the water's clean, and there is nobody there to jack with you. We were there all day and never saw a ranger.

You can find out more info on it here ... The Link

Pace Bend is really cool. There are several good campsites that sit on bluffs high above the lake. Great for watching sunsets while drinking, smoking, etc. Good swimming areas and plenty of cliffs to jump off of. Alcohol is not a problem, just don't bring glass containers.

screw the flooding...go ahead and hop in with your tube!!! if you make it alive, it'd be something to tell your grandkids about!

Dammit everything is still closed this weekend.....oh well I guess I will just go later this summer. Thanks for the info on Pace Bend, I will definitley have to consider it when I do go.
