Sims news related to Brown?

Everyone seems to be upset Sims is not coming and appears he will not receive an offer. Perhaps this is good news.

Maybe Brown went to ou, did not like what he saw and told the UT coaches as much, prompting them to let Sims know he does not need to come.

Nothing to support this, but some rumors are out there that Brown came away from Norman as many do - unimpressed.

that works for me.

Sims looked terribly good to me, but you can't get every stud. Maybe in the 60's Royal could sign 3 stud rbs a year without scholarship limits. Truth is, these days most kids just want to play and they'll often go where they're convinced is their best shot to play early. I don't believe Sims believes he'll get as good an opportunity here even if he were offered. He doesn't feel the love......right now, could change

Sims is awesome rb, very hard worker and a good person. I have relatives in Abilene and everyone thinks the world of Sims. He is bigger than 180 also. Dude will be a great college back, OU has been recruiting him for a very long time.

By all accounts, M. Brown is as bright as he is talented. If he takes a look at all the top drawer O-line talent headed to UT, as well as the best fullback in Texas in the last several years, well...draw your own conclusion. Oh, and yep, this time the staff seems serious about going back to more of a smash mouth running game. Guess 'Bama showed us something in the Rose Bowl.

i don't know a thing about sims that i don't like. i don't think it is a matter of not liking him but liking someone else a little more.

absolutely agree, cool. now with flowers and greenlea recently on board - and don't forget mcfarland - you have to think this is looking pretty attractive. if either hegarty or westerman were to come in while the momentum is strong, that might tip the scales, assuming what we are doing in spring workouts shows the commitment to the running game we are all hoping to see.

I don't think any of the big 4 would go to the same school - nor do I think that would be a good idea scholarship wise. Take the top TB each year and maybe 2 occasionally. Right now we took too many a few years ago and have a gluttony of TBs - many who will only see the field in special teams (Hills, etc.) or late in games.

Usually you are correct. In this case, we need to take advantage of a monster year for RBs in Texas. The best that it's been in a LONG time. I disagree that two guys like Sims and Brown wouldn't play at the same school. They complement each other perfectly and it's not like they have a ton of competition on campus right now. Personally, I'd prefer Brown and Green, but I see no reason to write Sims off so early in the game :-/

It seems that Sims and UT have sorta been mutually writing each other off...must be something in the west Texas water these days that the best running backs want to go to zero-u.

What they showed us is that a power running game makes up for a multitude of other offensive shortcomings. Teams that can run the ball down another team's throat don't have too many bad days. We were obviously paying attention.

What they did show us is that against a directionally confused offense that goes 3 & out several straight possesions then your running game is almost assured to finally hit some plays against their tired defense. Also, if you get handed 1st an goal on the 3(?) with under 3 minutes left, even though you've been stuffed for almost an entire half while the game was getting close, you'll pound it in at a full yard at a time against that defense that has contained you so well. And your powerful running game can then after the game is decided and a last meaningless turnover, run it down the throats of the opponents for 27 more punishing yds and another score. I think even Texas' powerless running game could've done some damage had an opponent lost as much of their offense as we did. One can argue that you shouldn't put so many eggs in one basket, but when a player is that good you almost have to. Tim Tebow, Vince Young, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, all carried the same weight. Had any been hurt they lose.... That was the secret to bama's running success
