Sic 'em bears

I like Art Briles and I would love to see the bears take down wake on thursday- give the conference some instant credibility. Anyone think Baylor can pull it off?

Was watching a college preview show this weekend, and Wake was picked by one of the commentators to win the ACC. Well, that's a stretch, but Wake returns something like 9-10 starters on defense(can't remember the exact number), which scored eight defensive TD's last year. So, I'd bet against BU winning. Don't know the spread yet.

i hope baylor wins... but i think wake forest is gonna have a decent team this year. only reason i give the bears a chance is that the game is in waco and nobody just walks into floyd casey stadium and expects a win.

they got an attractive schedule too. wake forest, wash st and uconn... nice liittle ooc that was put together.

Yeah, I second that... nobody just walks into Floyd Casey Stadium and expects to walk out with a win, by gawd. Having said that, the Bearz just don't have the firepower to beat a program on the rise like Wake even at a hostile environ like FC

Briles may have fired up, etc.and the bears MAY hang with 'em for 2-3 quarters, but I think WF wins by 17 or so.

I am going on Thursday night to support former Horns Beau Trahan, Kendall Briles, and Casey Horny. Hell tickets where 20 bucks a pop for great seats.

If Baylor does pull out a win a few teams are going to have to reevaluate the "sure" win they had been counting on. That noise you hear will be a "gulp" coming from the direction of College Station.

Don't count the bears out just yet. I don't know if they win but I bet they don't let Wake cover the spread. Briles will throw some crazy **** in there to start the season and we saw last year with App State how looking too far ahead can bite you. First game of the season for the Big 12, I predict a damn good game.

First game brings jitters to some. If Wake is too rusty, on the road and does not figure it out they can easily lose. It would be so awesome.

I like it when the Bears do well, but you have to remember that Baylor's athletic budget is somewhere around 1/10th of Texas. That leaves them room to compete in a lot of sports, but not so much in football. I'd like to see them gnaw on wake forest.

I listened to the Briles call in show last week. He didn't really give me the warm-fuzzies for Baylor this year. I think he'll do well there, but I think it'll take a couple years to make the a mid-tier Big 12 program. It would be great for the conference if they beat WF, but I doubt that'll happen.

The first game of the year for any school is very tough to call... the crappier school on paper that might get killed by the same opponent in week 4 could come out a little less jittery and make a game of it or even steal one...

However, in this case the new offensive scheme and new QB will likely spell doom for da bears. Wake has been tough in the past couple years for much, much more formidable opponents... Even a full stadium of Baylor fans is not very intimidating.
