SHSU game

Ugly first half with a pretty big lead. Shots are still having problems falling, especially when McClellan forces the issue. He's going to have to come off the bench until he figures this **** out. We can't have him shooting 30 percent for the season and expect to out gun teams.

Turnovers still were pretty ugly. We shouldn't be equal in the turnover margin to a team like this. Felix still showing impatience with the ball. His last possession before the half was plain ugly. Super ugly. There's no reason to stand at the top of the key while everyone else is trying to set up an ISO play and then jack the ball up from 23 feet only to hit iron.

Coaches are showing a lot more trust in Ibeh than Ridley. Not sure Ridley got even 5 minutes in that half. We should not be getting outrebounded, but we are. I think that might have a lot to do with Ridley's minutes. The inability to stop opponents from getting the offensive boards is going to kill us in conference play.

The only reasons we're up by almost double their score is the FTs and SHSU's inability to hit anything. They suck at shooting and they're willing to concede a ton of foul calls by spreading them out among all the players and forcing us to hit stuff at the line. And we are. At least the guards are.

Thanks 11

I was at the game and Horns11 summed it up perfectly about the game. Texas fans have to remember too who we were playing and the level of competition. I would love to see Ridley loose a little weight he looks awfully chunky in his bball uniform! Congrads on the victory Horns

Sorry didn't post again after the game, but there was literally no need to. The second half was the exact same as the first half.

Player of the game was Holmes. He had a solid effort and good presence out there. I'll give it to McClellan if he can stop taking awful shots. He's trying way too hard out there to get something going. And then he doesn't get anyone else involved when he's in his "zone," which isn't a good thing. His shooting was 1-5 in the second half. Felix played about the same as he has all season: a couple of assists to go with his 1:1 turnover ratio. Kabongo is sorely missed, flaws and all.

Ridley finally got some rebounds and playing time in the second half, but still looked bad on offense. For as fat as Dexter Pittman was all those years, he still seemed to have more speed than Ridley. I was starting to get concerned that Papi wasn't playing as much as he should have. I think the coaches know he's not going to be a huge defensive strength, but it looked like he was working hard on it last night. A couple of blocked shots.

The refs helped us out a lot on ticky-tack calls. I know I've said this on other game threads, but we're just not going to get those calls once we play good teams. SHSU was plain awful on offense, and let fouls get the best of them on the other side.
