I watched the game and it was a very physical game. Our girls spend a lot of time on the floor after being run into by the SHSU players. But games like this do help in preparing the team for the physical play of the Big 12. I doubt that any of the Horns did not have bruises to nurse after this game.
Statistically, it was about what one would have expected. Horns dominated on the scoreboard and on the boards. But there were certainly things for the coaches to work on: turnovers and FT shooting. I have to think that Tiffany's wrist is still affecting her shot as she put up a couple of the ugliest FTs I've seen. But that is not unexpected given the type of injury she has had. it will take longer for her to get her shot back than it has for her to be released back to play.
You had to really like the production from the post. Ashley had a double double to go with six blocks. Kristen and Anne Marie added 19 pts on 7-10 shooting and 15 rebounds. That's 29 pts and 26 rebounds from the post players, not including Kat. That's excellent considering the height advantage the Horns had. Horns should have dominated inside and they did that.
Now, they have a week to heal bruises, work on FT shooting, and get ready for the Big 12 opener against Missouri before they face Baylor in game two of the Big 12 schedule.
