shrimp marinade

Sorry- no pics

but my Mom requested my shrimp for her birthday Saturday
I had some nice sockeye grilled and a few fillets ( daughter won't eat shrimp or fish), grilled corn and squash, but the shrimp stole the show-- as always.

I have done my share of Italian dressing and tony's, but I found a new recipee last summer--great ( men's health)

2 cloves of garlic or 2 tbsp minced
1 tbsp fresh ginger-- 2 is ok
2 jalepenos
1/4 cup lime juice
1 head of cilantro
1/4 cup olive oil
give it a whirl in food processor
add oil to get the right thickness
I can't see where some tequila would be bad

I buy peeled shrimp-- but either way-- marinate 1 hr

grill till pink

Thinking about it--that would be good on the salmon

Great stuff-- the cilantro calms down, the jalapenos as well-- the ginger makes it nice

I agree that it seems the lime would cook the shrimp, but it sounds good. Excuse my ignorance, but what is a head of cilantro?

one hour will not "cook" the shrimp in the lime juice. it is o.k. for that short of time.

my easy "go-to" marinade for lots of **** = Goya brand "Mojo Criollo" bawically pre-made garlic, onion, citrus marinade.

my chef friend introduced it to me as one of his short cuts and it works very well in a pinch.

a head of cilantro-- tear the tops or leave ends off of a "bunch"
grill about 7-8 minutes---until pink-- don't over cook shrimp

This is indeed a wonderful marinade. I use a very similar version that omits the ginger, but adds 1/4 cup of the juice from pickled jalapenos. I brought some shrimp home from Rockport this weekend and grilled them up with hickory chips. Next time I'll sure throw in the ginger though; that sounds like a great addition to an already fabulous marinade.
