Shreveport, LA dining and other stuff?

Another interview in Shreveport. Fortunately, I will only be there for one evening and will leave the following afternoon once my interview is over.

I wanted to know if anyone knows of a good place to eat, since I'll most likely arrive around dinner time. Any good cajun food? I'm sure I could find a casino buffet and hit up some black jack, but I think a local food joint would be better and cheaper....

But on that note, whats a casino I could sit down at and play some <$5/hand blackjack for an hour or 2?

I don't know much about the area around the casinos or even what to look for @ them - I'm a slacker slot machine guy who never spends more than $ 20.00.

A long time family friend's restaurant is "Dominick's" - it's Italian - down on the South side of 70th just a touch W of Youree Drive (take I 49 South to 70th, go W about 2 miles). He does 'some' Cajun touches to his stuff, but for the most part it's Italian. He has a LOT of memorabilia inside; one of Tom Landry's hats under glass (along with his entire place setting), photos with presidents dining there, baseball players, famous Lousianians (Terry Bradshaw, a Shreveporter, was a friend of my Uncle's in High School & they all ran around together).

Over in Bossier City, we go to a place that's 99% mudbugs - it's like one big screened in porch. I don't know what they do when they are out of season & will have to ask my Uncle what the name of the place is 'cause I can't remember riight now.

The Link - 1833 Pierre Avenue, the SW area of I 20 & I 49. They've been around for over 70 years, so something must be going right.

That oughta get you started out right.

Unless things have changed in the last year, all the casinos have some $5 minimum bet blackjack tables. I prefer the Horseshoe. hullabelew and I hit the Horseshoe and Sam's Town last year on the way to the RRS. We're both in our 40s and we were the youngest people in Sam's Town. Herby K's is a good suggestion. There's a Ralph & Kacoo's in Bossier City that is consistently good also.
