Shoulder Pain

So I'm going over the results of an mri and an x-ray with the orthopedist and he makes a diagnosis of bursitis and arthritis. The bursitis seems like a common athletic injury, but arthritis in a 30 year old joint with no prior history of injury seems a little odd.

So my question is thus: has anyone ever had a similar diagnosis on their shoulder, or elsewhere, at a similar age, with or without previous injury?

I had the same thing diagnosed on my shoulder a few years ago.

At the time, I had started working out regularly for the first time in several years, and I'm pretty sure that's what caused it.

I also have a long family history of arthritis.

Anyway, they prescribed me Celebrex (I'm not sure it is even still on the market), and gave me some exercises to do with my shoulder.

I've been pain free since.

Good luck. I don't know how bad yours is, but at one time I couldn't even lift my hand over head. I know it can hurt quite badly.

Just went to the doc for this. I have what he called a shoulder impingement as a result of a hooked acromium. Having surgery in December for it. I'm 30 BTW.

I'm 35, and I have terrible arthritis in my shoulders.

I have some congenital problems with my rotator cuffs which combined with a steady dose of active lifestyle and high school football. The end result will be shoulder replacement surgery at some point.

I am putting it off as long as I can, since the replacement joints have about a 12 year lifespan the last time I checked. With that sort of timeframe, I could have five more replacements over the course of my life. That doesn't sound really fun to me at all.

I don't think that osteoarthritis is as rare as you think it is for people in their 30s. This is when that stuff starts popping up, but frequently it isn't a huge problem until it progresses further into your 40s and 50s.

Good luck.
