i got sucked into a jack lalane juicer infomercial last night, and i must say it looked pretty darned interesting. anyone have experience with his juicer or other juicers in general?

Only if you like juice.

But really, apparently it worked for that guy. Carrot juice just doesnt sound appetizing.

The only thing that I found worth juicing were CARROTS.

I like carrot juice, it is extremely good for you, and it's great for a hangover/helping prevent them. However, you have to clean the thing after EVERY USE!! It takes about 5-10 minutes depending. And then there's the buying of the carrots (or whatever) before hand, pulling the thing out, and then making that annoying noise. That's a lot of effort for a glass of juice that's going to take about 15 seconds to drink.

I bought a Hamilton Beach juicer when I lived on the edge of KoreaTown in LA. I ended up selling it in my moving sale. I would have like to have had the thing down here, but it wasn't worth the trouble of bringing down and I don't have my own apartment down here. (Really something that is preferable when you have a juicer.)

By the way, I got my juicer on sale for about $30. I think that it was listed in a Sunday department store flyer.

It takes some work but is worth it if you really like fresh juice. It requires lots of bulk raw fruit/veggies, which is expensive. And it requires a lot of cleaning, which is time-consuming.

My wife and I enjoy it, so it's worth it to us. We have the Jack Lalane's, and I bought it specifically because its mouth is larger than many others, and I had two friends recommend it for quality and durability. I now agree with them.

Like most things, not all are created equal, and you get what you pay for.

Anyway, if you're the type that appreciates a healthful lifestyle, you'll probably use it and enjoy it.

But if you currently have a Bowflex that sits unused in your guest bedroom, and a once-used Showtime Rotisserie cooker in the very back of your kitchen cabinet, then you're never going to use a juicer either.

I don't use a juicer; I just squeeze grapefruit into a bowl. I am fortunate in that I have extremely good grapefruit, without a hint of tart. One grapefruit gives me about 8 oz of juice.

"Charlie, would you like a juice? Look what I've bought myself, a Juice Tiger."

"A Juice Tiger?"

"Yes, I juice everything now. I'm on a new diet. I'm on a Weekly World News Garth Brooks Juice Diet."

We registered for one for a wedding 10 years ago. I will let you know when we get it out of the box.
