I'm thinking absolutely. This is another one of those firsts:

Marine Faces Boot for Anti-Obama Facebook Posts

SAN DIEGO -- A Marine sergeant who started a Facebook group that is openly critical of President Barack Obama and posted comments saying he will not follow the unlawful orders of the commander in chief is facing possible dismissal from the Corps.

The Marines on Wednesday told Sgt. Gary Stein - a Camp Pendleton Marine who started the Facebook page called Armed Forces Tea Party - that he is in violation of Pentagon policy barring troops from political activities.

Stein, a nine-year member of the Corps, said he started the page to encourage fellow service members to exercise their free speech rights. He has also criticized Defense Secretary Leon Panetta for his comments on Syria.

The Marine Corps said in a statement that Stein's commanding officer ordered a preliminary inquiry on March 8 after receiving allegations that Stein posted the political statements violating the Pentagon's directives.

"After reviewing the findings of the preliminary inquiry, the commander decided to address the allegations through administrative action," the Corps said.

I don't know what is customary in the armed forces. Surely he should be reprimanded for political activities. However, I am not sure he should be prosecuted for stating that he would not follow orders - I think prosecution would probably be left for those who actually act on their comments. Again this is with the caveat, that I do not know what is customary for the armed forces. What happened to those military personnel who were against Bush when he was president? That should provide a roadmap for what should occur with this guy.

Satchel, I believe what he's done is wrong. However, I'd like to know what your opinion is about why he's upset with what barry may put them in a position to do with your fellow citizen t

or you may need healthcare some day.

Hell yes, he should.

If he doesn't like his CIC, tough ****. If he wants to publicly bad mouth him, he should be kicked the hell out.

I remember when Clinton was POTUS and the military was told to STFU if they didn't like him. It was the right thing to do...

The POTUS isn't a person, it's a constitutionally mandated office. BHO just happens to be the most recent POTUS...

When you join the military, you leave your free speech rights at the door. That's just reality. if he wants to protest the president or the military or the government, he should have resigned his commission first.

he was stupid. He knew the rules especially if he thought he was going to make it a career.
he should be separated.
he won't lose any benefits except the 4 months oay he had remaining on his enlistment.

Really dumb

I wonder what would happen if I started publicly talking trash about my boss and encouraging my co-workers to disobey the orders given by the leader of the company. I have a feeling I would meet the same fate as our Marine friend here.
