Short Notice Trip Ideas

My wife and I were headed to Belize on Saturday but ot looks like Dean has thrown a wrench into our plans. I'm looking for some alternatives. I didn't have a huge budget for this trip as I was using miles for our flight and I was given lodging as a gift.

Any Texas resorts that we can get a great deal on during the week as school has started? Other ideas? Is Cancun a good idea since it seems the storm didn't do much damage there?

Also American Airlines usually has a weekly mailout of last minute discounted fares, forget what its called, maybe NetsAAvers or something, but they have had some good deals there.

AA doesn't have much from Houston (where we are) and Continental didn't have anything interesting this week. I should be able to switch my flight without penalty because of the storm and I'm hoping to use miles.

I've been looking on Priceline and it looks like there are some good deals in Cancun. If anyone has any personal experiences or advice I'd love to hear it.

Westin La Cantera in San Antonio. Go down there, drink a little, sleep in a lot and decompress by the pool.

If you like to surf, Continental has a direct to Puerto Escondido from Houston. Beautiful, easygoing place with amazing surf. Like anywhere in Mexico, the fishing is pretty good as well.

You could rent a decent place through VRBO.com for really cheap. Just a thought.
