I am interested in buying something that will fit in the back of a pickup 45x41x33 350lbs. The person who I am buying from will not ship, will not package the item and lives 1000 mi away. I know people pay others to have their car driven from one state to another. Are there similar services that can arrange to pick up an item at someone's house and drop it off at my house? How do you find such services? If something like Craigslist is suggested, how can I avoid being scammed?

I know a trusted shipping broker in LA who can make all the arrangements for you(from and to anywhere in the country - or world for that matter). Good people - and he'll give you the price up front.. including his fees which are minimal.
