I'm sure he could have made the pass, but he didn't even get to step into the throw since he was about to get hit. It looked more like a jump shot. That defender read the play perfectly.
Colt hands off to somebody running left who pitches to Shipley running right. Shipley then passes to somebody who has nobody even guarding him downfield; unfortunately the pass falls about 15 yards short. One guy did read the play right and forced Shipley to throw sooner and quicker than he wanted to. I actually like using a WR b/c using Chiles gives the play away, but I don't understand why our coaches picked Jordan for that play and not Quan.
Love Shipley. What we need to work on is sending some kind of message from the collective consciousness to Mack to get his *** off the kickoff return team. Not that he doesn't bust his *** on this unit, but given his bad luck in the past, he is just too damn valuable as a receiver, blocker on run plays and holder on kicks to risk an injury while doing something somebody else can do as well.
