Shiner 100 - Commemorator

Shiner 100 is out now. The new beer has been christened "Commemorator". Commemorator is an ale brewed in the "starkbier" style, and it's fantastic.

When a co-worker reported the name to me, I was thinking it would be a doppelbok. Apparently, not.

Commemorator is a departure from most of Shiner's anniversary offerings. It has an almost English feel to it -- almost like a Newcastle. But, it finishes without any hint of citrus. The color is a nice, deep brown.

I picked up two cases at Spec's in Houston today. THE LAST TWO CASES.

Seeing as how Shiner picked up 97, they have to keep this one in the lineup.

I think starkbiers are usually doppelbocks. I need to try this one out.

I loved the 99 Helles Munich Style Lager. I'll have to try this one.
