Boards are rightly quiet re:Mizzou kicking the crap out of Texas in every sport that counts on their way out.

Let's not mention it.

Mizzwho? Call me when they matter, not a flash in the pan. Cheers, off you go and thanks for taking time to obsess on a 'Horns board. You won't ever find me one of yours because you just don't matter.

You.

Just.

Don't.

Matter.

Point taken re:the irrelavance of Mizzou. The commentary is actually about how mediocre Texas is in sports that matter this year. Programs have off years but all of ours seem to be off at the same time.

Sports seem to cycle on the same frequency; when you're all 'up" and one time, it only stands to reason that you'd be "down" at the same time. Meanwhile, if you recognize that a key element of the student athletics program at Texas is as much about character development of the individual as it is team championships, it's still a damned fine program. It's just that fans tend to rate success only in terms of trophies and championships, and not in individual accomplishment.

The individuals are Horns, too, not just the teams.

You have to count all sports that they compete with each other. if you look at it so far of the 18 sports that they compete with each other and counting each one as one point as State Farm does Missouri only has 4 points while Texas has 12. MIssouri has the points in one each for football, basketball, softball and baseball. Texas has 12 points right now in 2 for Golf, 2 for Cross Country, 2 for Indoor Track and Field, 2 for Swimming and Diving, 1 for Soccer, 1 for Women's Tennis, and 1 for Volleyball.
The only points left are one each for Men and Women's Outdoor Track and Field and I expect UT to take them both.

But anyway Shhhhh

Yes, we lost to Missouri in the the three major sports.
It was kind of a perfect storm that helped that occur.

Basketball was a combination of a very good Missouri team against a completely revamped Texas team that lost their entire starting five
when it wasn't expected. We still a had a very
good chance to beat them in Austin at the very
end it just didbn't happen.

In Baseball a combination of injuries, youth, a
player that could have really helped didn't qualify
in Monihan, players playing out of position because it was the best option such as Etier.
Players who performed below expectations.
The loss of very talented players in the starting
pitching rotation, hitters, a slick fielding shortstop
who could also hit that provided leadership.
We could and would have won every game of that
series if we execute like we should have and we
just didn't.

Football was probably lost due to the absolute
abomination of a field that cost us not only that
game, but others also with the loss of Fozzie
Whitaker. He was running wild literally out of
the "Wild Horn" or whatever you want to call it
formation. That injury doesn't happen on a
normal field. We would have controled the game
with a running game that featured Fozzie.
We were down to Hills as the featured back after
Fozzie went down.

Still Missouri did win those games so congrats to
them. I believe we still for the most part dominated all three sports against them, especially when it mattered.

It's been a throw away year for the most part in
sports for Texas this year. Thankfully that doesn't
happen very often. When it does become a pattern
in a particular sport changes need to be made.
That happened in football and I think we can see
that the changes made there are having a very
positive effect. If and when that becomes
necessary in the other sports I hope the same type
of changes will occur to right the ship in a positive
direction also.

Congrats to Mizzou but really what have they done with it, a basketball team that lost in the first round of the ncaa tournament, a football team that I think made a bowl but I cant for the life of me remember which one or whether they won and they didnt finish in the top 25 so whatever they did it isnt worth mentioning, and finally a baseball team that wont even make the ncaa tourney. But hey congrats to Mizzou.

When Texas is "up" we win championships.

When Mizzou is "up" they beat Texas

Thats the difference boys and girls.

We beat Missouri and would have taken both Men and Women's Outdoor Track and Field events and gives us a total win of 14 to 4.
