Passing time till selection show...

Started listening to the She's Got Game Radio Show taped at Big 12 Tourney last Thursday...

At about the 1 hour mark, Mechelle Voeple made some very "right on" comments about Texas Fans and their expectations of GG at Texas...

Spoiler Alert: Do NOT listen to this if you are a GG hater...it might change your mind! Heaven Forbid!!

Wow, thanks for posting, that was a great way to spend part of my afternoon. Listening to Van Lengen and Voepel discuss women's baksetball for almost an hour-and-a-half - heaven! Really great observations about all the conference programs and coaches, as well as the game and NCAA in general.

I go for results, not promises of "greatness".

Coach G was a good coach..at Duke. What Brenda and Michelle have FAILED to emphasize is the early exit of Coach G's teams from the tournament. (except her debut year at Texas) In the 4 years she's been hired, no championships that matter. None. Don't bother bringing up the tournaments in San Diego as they aren't something to brag about.

You see, Oklahoma has it right. They fired Capiel (Mens BB coach) today after a 5 year period citing a change in the direction of the program. Can Texas do the same? Of course not! Someone has to save face for the 7 million dollars that is on the hook for the Coach. Lopano would NEVER tolerate the lackluster performance of teams under her leadership. If you are not Top 10, you are out.

Anyone who is silly to not think Coach G does not deserve any criticism and worships her as the "Messiah" is completely delusional and out of touch.

I don't expect TEXAS to win every game. What I do expect TEXAS to represent is to be competitive and within the Top 3 of the conference year in and year out.

I am *NOT* impressed with that radio show.

Oh, my bad, Seattle....

I forgot you must know SOOOO much more that Mechelle and Brenda and anyone else on the planet when it comes to Women's Basketball...

I, along with about 99% of this board, am *NOT* impressed with you...

Another example of someone's obsession with GG; Seattle has yet to address the point made over - and over - again that Goestenkors has done far better than any of her Big12 counterparts duirng her first years at Texas. Seattle - do you think A&M should have fired Blair, and the other programs should have released their coaches, at the same point in their respective tenures? Yes or no? Their performances and results were not as good as GG's - had they been fired they wouldn't be where they are today - should Sherri have been fired because she didn't even make the NCAA tournament her first three years? Should Gary have been fired because he had a poor record and only made a single tournament (1st round loss) his first three years? Should Kim have been fired because she made the tournament for a couple of years and then had to settle for a WNIT bid in year three? If you think GG should go because she's made three consecutive NCAA tournaments (same as other three coaches combined during same timeframe) after a two-year absence before her arrival, do you feel the same about these other coaches? Let's have a meaningful conversation. And for the record, GG was not a 'good' coach at Duke, she was (and is) a great coach, regarded as one of the best in the country, with more Sweet 16's, Elite 8's, Final 4's and NCAA Championship game appearances that any Big12 coach, and by a significant margin. And, BTW, more National Coach of the Year honors than all other coaches combined. We are (very, very) lucky to have her, which is a good thing because she's going to be here for a long time; I would much rather have her win a national title here at Texas than at Duke. You have never had an actual conversation about her performance - all of your posts have been inflammatory and off-base, and when you are challenged you fail to respond to what was said - you simply come up with another snide remark. And be very careful before you speak for Lopiano because you're going to be corrected, and rather emphatically, if you make a habit of that. Go away please.

Wow, Seattle. Just wow.

I respect everyone’s right to voice their opinion here. But, the more you jump into every thread with this stuff the less I personally take you seriously.

I haven’t seen anyone refer to GG as the Messiah. You made that up. Other than you no one brought up the San Diego tournament. No one said Coach G was above criticism. You come across like you’re arguing with yourself.

I have seen a lot of people agree with you that there have been some issues that need to be addressed. You come across like you think no one else has seen any problems.

The only difference is that some people think there is still cause to believe the issues are correctable, and that we need at least one more year to evaluate. They point to the reasons for that belief. You talk about Donna Lopiano, and OU men’s basketball. Donna Lopiano left Texas 19 years ago, in a completely different period of women’s sports, and you talk like you know exactly what she would do when you can’t even spell her name correctly.

Again it’s just my opinion, but I think people would take you more seriously, and be more inclined to engage in conversation, if you talked about exactly what problems you see, rather than just insist in every thread that the ONLY solution is to change the head coach.

You use the word “delusional”. Personally, I felt that I saw some issues this season that were worthy of concern. But, I also think that anyone who has watched this team in the past, then watched this season, and still thought there was NOTHING positive to mention is delusional.

Donna Lopiano? Really?
