I don't think her teeth are as bad as some say. I think she just places her lower lip too high when she smiles. A little grinding of the central incisors would help.
I'm amazed by the size of her legs.
Very cute. I liked her enthusiasm (always waving to the cameras), and her strut when the gymnasts walked single file to and from their dressing rooms. Glad for her that she won gold on the last event.
There was a great article on her in SI a couple of weeks. They followed her around for a month to document her lifestyle. She has a pretty normal teenage life - goes to a public school and only trains 20-25 hours a week compared to the 40-50 hours a week the typical Olympic caliber gymnast puts in.
I was soooooo glad she finally got a gold, and I hope that she will compete again in 2012.
I know she looks young-ish, but she looks waaaaaaay older than a few of the Chinese chicks, who are rumored to be 14, so her being 16 makes sense. Also, I would hope that our government is not so corrupt and desperate to win to forge birth certificates and passports.
And I also love that she was so professional in her walking between events and back to the locker rooms. That is how gymnasts are supposed to walk in any kind of a competition. It shows her love and respect for the sport.
