Shaq to Phoenix...

It makes no sense basketball-wise, but beyond that, I can't believe they are going to pay his contract for the next two years.

and marion can opt out of his contract (he has said he will) at the end of the year. looks like miami will have TONS of cap space to get dwade some help.

apparently reports are saying shaq is flying to phoenix for a physical tommorrow. Steve kerr deserves the axe if he trades marion for this package. shaq is a shell of himself who doesn't fit that system.

Y'all are crazy. I like this trade.

For the Rockets. Sooner the better. Give the Suns time to fall all the way out. Seriously, if they do this trade, the entire Phx front office should be fired. Hell, even the owner should be forced to sell the team if he approves this.

This is one of the trades the computer wouldn't even let you make in NBA Live.

teams like the rockets and spurs may actually benefit from the trade. it slows the suns down and plays more to the tempo they prefer.

Yahoo Sports reporting the deal is done.
wtf.gif

only way this makes any sense for phoenix is if they swap atlanta and miami's picks in the june draft, but why would a rebuilding team in miami go that route?

Phoenix already has a big man who can rebound and block shots...Marion is probably the most athletic player in the league.

Terrible trade for the Suns.

wow, things I learn by logging onto HF as my first website of the day.

I can just see Nash on the fast break in his usuall wild *** style ...looking for buddy Marion on the wing... where is he? time is running out.. I need a wingman... damn!

meanwhile Shaq has not crossed halfcourt.

The more I think about it the more bizzare it is. I have no idea what the hell phoenix is doing- they take every opportunity to deal assets for fear of the luxury tax and then they take on this cap killing contract that moves them backwords in terms of competitiveness in th west.

They made a deal to match up with the Spurs when it looks like the Spurs are as down as they've ever been.

Reminds me a bit of the Rockets making the Barkley deal to be able to beat the Sonics. Well, they did but then their reconfigured team couldn't beat Utah.

Phoenix might now match up better with SA but to the detriment of their match ups with Dallas, Golden State, Houston and the Lakers (and probably a team like the Nuggets as well).

They are bringing a lot of teams into play that they were better then as currently made up. A real head scratcher. If I was a sun's fan I'd be hacked.

As the board's resident Suns fan, this **** is making my head swim.

I've never been a fan of Trix, his shot selection is poor, particularly in the playoffs, and then there's those games where he disappears ... but he was having a solid year despite some bad chemistry from he and Amare ... in rebounds, assists, and scoring.

And now, one of the only guys who will play defense is likely gone.

Even if this trade falls through (likely won't) and Marion stays, this season is blown. It was a tenuous situation already and this will certainly boil over unless Shaq comes in and Marion is gone.

I just don't see how Shaq fits in unless they let him stay upcourt and never play D.

No doubt about it, the Lakers made this trade for the Suns when they acquired Gasol.

Is Phoenix trying to get ousted by the Spurs yet again? Since last year's series they've gotten rid of their only 2 guys who can guard Duncan well.

this is good for the Rockets and the rest of the southwest conference, so thank you idiot Phoenix front office.

Shaq has people skilz.

how many championships does Nash have?

How many does Shaq have?

Shaq knows how to win the championships, that's why the Suns made this horrible deal.

As a Suns fan, I'm conflicted. I loved Matrix about 95% of the time, but that other 5 was frustrating as hell. Plus he has been part of the underlying locker room problem. That was the most anoying thing, anyone who followed the team knew his importance. Per "7 sec or less" the coaches are also aware of this fact. He is asked to do more than others on the team because he is good enough to do them. But he feels unapreciated, even though the real problem is that him and Amare both want to be the big dick.

The window was closing on this team, and it was looking like it would never work as constituted. Now, I could probably argue that it deserved maybe one more full run and then if you fall short again you have to mix it up. In the last 3 years they have had some crappy luck. 05: Joe Johnson breaks his face. 06: no Amare, Bell gets hurt. 07: Dirtbag Horry incident. But hey, **** happens. Could they overcome it this year? Who knows.

The impact of this trade lies within Shaq's health and ability to be somewhat athletic and Boris Diaw finally growing a pair.

is Shaq, even at his last career stop, the best Suns center ever? PHX has been like the Mavs, with no real center in their entire history, IIRC.

Who could be better? Mark West, Oliver Miller, Joe Klein? Maybe someone from the 1970s? Amare plays the position and used to be great before the injuries but is only 6'9".

On a positive thought, maybe Nash can get Shaq some ez buckets and revitalize the fatass. This may also open things up for Amare.

It will be interesting. will Shaq wear # 34 (Barkley)?

Does this make the heat any better this season? There is still time to go on a run and get the 7 or 8 seed.
