Several Players are waiting to announce on NSD.

I don't remember this many highly recruited players that we were in play for waiting till NSD to announce. I really believe all of them know where they are going already and they have been in contact with each other so they even know where each other are going too. To me this is too coincidental. So is this being done to make a big splash on NSD? If I'm right, I can't help but think this is good news for us.

So what happens if more uncommitted players pick UT on national signing day than there are scholarships left at that point? Hopefully they have told the coaches their intensions so that the coaches can let the overflow know that the scholarships are taken already.

@OldHippie,

Ha, you sound like Frank telling Tony Montana that the biggest problem is what to do with all the cash!

I hope you're right....

I think the way this works is that the guys will generally tell the coaches depending on the circumstances early, so that he can tell the uncommiitted lower-ranked players (who probably are committed somewhere) to not decommit because we have no spots. Guys like Deandre Baker and Dominique Reed fall in that category. Even Kai Locksley, though I can see FSU pushing him to commit to Texas if he was seriously thinking of a late flip (if they have another top player to take). None of that will come out in the open, but the players and coaches typically take care of things.

The only player that Texas really wants and probably has been the strongest lean from among 4-star players for the longest time, RB Chris Warren, is probably the only player I can see getting caught in a numbers jam. Only for his own fault that he had fixed at least 2 months ahead that his will be an NSD decision. Then he set up the OV to the closest rival to us in his recruitment (UWash) for the Jan 30th weekend. We have 4-star Nick Brossette also in the mix. Earlier it looked like both could be picked. But if we know Soso is committing, and Brossette goes ahead and flips from LSU (if he is, he might do it within a couple of days), we will have to tell Warren late this week that we can't take him. If it goes that way, and Warren really wanted to come to UT, he would have messed himself up, by being the one who planned well ahead and set it up nicely, in other words!

The coaches in top programs are used to these kinds of nimble moves at the end. We aren't, because Mack never wanted to play everybody's game and was a rare guy who could do it well in his own way (till the few years). Even then, the extremely precarious point to which Charlie has taken this, is rather rare in recruiting. At least in what I have observed over time.

Charlie will start pushing as many people as he can, to commit soon. I believe he is off to Tallahassee tomorrow, for instance. Probably will try to wrap up Burt, explaining the details of the situation.

Don't worry, I think we will only have about 4 or 5 names that the public is unsure of, come NSD. I think the staff will probably know at least 3 of those names to be commits already too. These things have a way of working out in the end.

I just hope like hell that Mr. Strong knows what's going on and I'm betting he does for the most part. NSD announcements suck for us, but hopefully the coaches involved know ahead of time. It would be ****** for a recruit to not have the decency to do that.

Haven't you seen enough "******" to expect it, especially when you are dealing with 18 year-old egos who love the attention and probably love to tool around people, like those on this website and others who apparently have nothing better to do than speculate and pant,. Remember Perilloux ? And, you can throw in the gossip sellers who thrive on those who subscribe to their "services."

^^ True. But recruiting is a real fun stuff. Quite like horse racing. It's addictive too. That is why the services make money. I wonder why they don't have gambling on who lands whom...

Charlie and gang visited Chris Warren tonight. Seems like it was a good visit. Warren's mom sent out the nice pictures. That is another Mom who has been in our corner for a while. Man, all these moms!

Here is her tweet of the pictures.

Hi literally lives in a burnt orange house, seeing the pictures...

Brossette's mother has cancer and though he was leaning toward Texas, he wants to stay close to home and his mother.

You can't blame him for that, I would be very surpised if he didn't sign with LSU.

4-star nation top-100 RB Chris Warren had this tweet yesterday -The Link

@ScorealldayCW25
I have the utmost respect for the coaches that I have come in contact with these past couple of weeks, I really appreciate your hospitality

On the face of it, it is a harmless tweet. BUT, the places he visited the past couple of weeks (16th, 23rd and 3tth weekends) are OSU, Tech and Wash. NOT Texas (he visited us on Dec 12th). Now, why would he say a sudden "thanks for the hospitality" to these three schools? You decide for yourself. Seems awfully like he was feeling a little apologetic to them for all the effort they put in on him. He is a very nice kid, by the way and is not one to troll anybody.

So, in conclusion (with no real analysis), HE IS OURS!!!! Yeah.

But seriously, the reports last night was that he had a very nice visit to Washington, but there seemed to be no indication that anything changed. And, the most telling item, once again, was that the Huskies247 site moderator put in a CB last night for him to come to Texas.

Warren's 36 CB predictions: 33 for Texas, 2 for BU, 1 each for Tech and Wash. There is virtually nobody who thinks he goes anywhere but Texas at this point.

We will know at 8 am CST on Wednesday (at the same time was Soso who announces on ESPNU)

I sure hope we get him and Soso. This is not the old days where one back was the guy. Every team needs at least two or three starting RBs. And some times that's still not enough for that position.

While I hope that this isn't just wishful thinking but, all of these NSD signings would appear to bode well for us. Granted, applying logic to this craziness is a risky proposition. If I am not mistaken, the one common denominator to virtually all of these decisions is...Texas. Call it the "Big Splash Theory."

We'll see. I'm cautiously optimistic.

There are some crystal balls suddenly being put in for Soso Jamabo to UCLA. It started with a UCL247 article that said one source to be saying "Soso is a lock for UCLA". Just saw that Jeff Howe of Horns247 also put in a CB for UCLA. Now, that makes it pretty serious that these guys have possibly heard something. Soso had played things quite close to vest all along, so I am rather surprised by it though. Hope we see a different good source disputing it. For now, not looking good.

EDIT: Fwiw, Jeff Howe immediately posted that he only knows of some smoke from UCLA side that they are "feeling good" and nothing more. The Texas side reporters are trying to find out if there's anything. Meanwhile the Jason Higdon and others in all the recruiting services but 247 have been still saying that he's leaning to Texas. I will just watch how this plays out.

^^^ Bobby Burton just said at 247 horns that he was told the "Plano West basketball coaches feel like Jamabo is selecting UCLA". That is where the crystal balls came from. Let us just hope that their "feeling" is not correct. There have been plenty of reports that his family is in our corner. But let us say 40% Texas, 60% UCLA for now.
