Over the next two months, several great bands are coming to Austin. Here are the ones that I could think of off the top of my head.
1/30 The Donnas and OK Go- Emos- Never seen either one of these bands in concert, but the new CD's from both bands are good. As a bonus, three of the four members of the Donnas are really good looking.
2/1 The Burden Brothers- Lucy's on the Square (San Marcos)- Not actually in Austin, but still pretty close. They are a new group headed by Todd Lewis, former lead singer of the Toadies. Don't know much about them but the songs I have heard are good.
2/11 and 2/12 Slobberbone w/ Cheap Trick- Emos- Slobberbone is an alt-country band from Denton, TX. They are similar to the Old 97's, but are a little more rock and roll. Haven't heard their newest CD, Slippage, but their previous three releases are all very good. I saw them in concert last year and it was a great show.
2/23 Something Corporate- Emos- These guys were just in town with NFG at the beginning of December. Only problem was they only played 7 or 8 songs. This time they are headlining their own tour. Their album, "Leaving Through The Window" was one of the best albums of 2002 in my opinion. If you go see them, I guarantee that you will come away saying that it was one of the best shows you have ever seen.
Please post any other concerts that you may know about.
